Myself, my husband and three teenagers, one of which being my 14 year old daughter, Went along to Thorpe Park which is in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, for a weeks holiday last Easter.
The park is huge and very well laid out, with plenty of room between each caravan in which you can park your car.
*** The Park Facilities.
Splashzone: A heated indoor pool with waterslides, Spa bath and separate children's section. ~~~~ Actiontime: Here children can join in with the many activities such as, movie making and kite making. They can have a go a being a disc jockey, and audition for a part in the weekly stageshow. ~~~~ Bradley Bear Club: This is great for younger children, and offers plenty of activities to keep them happy for hours. They can join in treasure hunts, do a little singing and dancing, have there faces painted and take part in the talent contests. ~~~~ Funzone: Here you will find an adventure play area, Pets corner, Bird sanctuary. There is also a wild-flower meadow and nature reserve.
*** Other Facilities Include:
Roller skating rink, with skate hire. Two large course fishing lakes. Amusement arcades. Crazy golf and pitch and putt. Outdoor bowling. Tennis courts. Pool tables. Access to the beach. Mini market/paper shop.
In the evening you can go along to the Showbar for some family entertainment, which includes music and dancing, competitions, bingo and live shows. There is also the Aqua bar, where you can take your turn on the Karaoke, or watch the latest sports events on the widescreen satellite TV. There was also a small adults only club, offering live entertainment.
To take advantage of many of the above facilities, you need to purchase a funworks pass, this is in addition to what you will pay for your accommodation, and can work out a little expensive. an example of the prices are: £23.00 per adult £11.00 per child
**** Accommodation. The park offers five types of Caravan accommodation, which are -
Gold Olympic: This is the top of the range caravan, and well worth paying the extra for. It is almost home from home, with everything you could possibly need. The Gold Olympic also includes all bed linen and the Funworks passes.
Silver Olympic: Very similar to the Gold Olympic, but without the bed linen and Funworks passes.
Bronze Olympic: These are slightly older caravans and pets are welcome.
Three star & Four star: Sleep 6-8 people, and are the most basic and cheapest available. These tend to be older caravans and not very luxurious, but offer many of the facilities which come with the Olympic range.
**** Around And About.
Just down the road you will find a Tesco Superstore, so you can get your shopping once you get there, instead of taking everything with you.
Also within a five minute drive from the park, there is a great leisure centre. Here we found wave pools, water slides etc.
In Cleethopes it self there are plenty of amusement arcades, gift shops and takeaways.
**** My Overall View On Thorpe Park, Cleethorpes.
I would say that Thorpe Park is mainly geared up for families with young children, as there are plenty of activities for the young ones, but not a great deal for teenagers. If it was not for the theme park, the leisure centre and the amusements, I think we would have had three very bored teenagers on our hands. The park was spotlessly clean and very well kept, and all the staff were very helpful.
We spent the week in an 12 foot wide Gold Olympic caravan, which I most say was absolutely beautiful and extremely comfortable. In the caravan we found a separate fully fitted kitchen, with extra large gas cooker, microwave, electric kettle and toaster. The lounge area was very comfortable and spacious.
If you would like to take a look at the available parks, book a holiday or just order a brochure, then I recommend that you take a look at www.british-holidays.co.uk

A great opinion. I used to live off the main road that this place is on and my brother has worked there as a lifeguard for the past two seasons. - Anna

Advantages: Nice clean accomodation, excellent kids entertainment, good offers avaliable out of season Disadvantages: price of 'extras', drinks and in the shop are expensive, beach can be unaccessable until afternoon and is a steep climb down from the park, hard with toddlers/prams.
