Diamond Club is the frequent flyers club of British Midland BMI. This airline flies to most major UK and European cities from London and in codeshare with its Star Alliance partners covers most of the world.
In fact 662 destinations worldwide and growing as you can earn miles on Lufthansa, Austrian, LOT Poland, US Airways, United, Air Canada. BMI now also flying from Manchester to the US.
There are three levels of Membership, Blue, Silver and Gold. These are dependant on how frequently you fly.Obviously the higher the level the better benefits.
If you are a Business passenger then you can use the Lounge facilities which offer an oasis in a mad airport system. Free drinks and snacks, newspapers, magazines and you will get a call for your flight when it is ready so you avoid the crush.
See how good this is for value. I am flying to London with British Midland from Belfast £49 return(300 points each way total 600).
I am staying at Hilton Hotel in London for 2 nights at £59 per night(2000 points). For this you earn 1000 points per night.
I am hiring an Avis car for 2 days £80 earning 900 points.
I am leaving my car at a BCP Car park for the weekend again 30 points for every £3 spent £40 spent 400 points.
So if you add all that together that is 3000 points so that is 1/4 of a free flight from London to Brussels, Paris or Amsterdam. You can also use the points for free travel using BMIBaby, all free flights must be booked in advance and are exclusive of taxes.
So I am saving money , not doing any business class flights, hotel is a 5 star normally £200 per night and still getting all this.
Nothing is for nothing in this life but as a BA Club member as well I know which one gives me most for my loyalty.
