I have been a member of the BMI Diamond Club for the past two years now and would be lost without it since I fly with BMI quite regulary. Membership is free and is quite simple to join. They have to different points that they give you: Membership - These are issued for each reward and determine card level Destination - These are your actual free flight or car hire certs.
On check-in, you're allowed 20Kg additional free baggage allowance, and you get priority on stand-by availability on bmi flights. If you're travelling with just hand luggage you can also use the telephone check-in facility on flights leaving from the UK and ROI even when you're travelling on an economy ticket. In addition you can also recieve discounts and upgrades with their hotel and car parking partners.
As well as the above, silver card membership gives you unlimited access to diamond club and business lounges as well as other executive lounges in other major airports. In these lounges you can avail of free refreshments, newspapers and in some PC use. As a silver card member, BMI will guarantee a business class booking 48 hours in advance on bmi operated flights, even if the flight is full! You can also use the business check-in even if you're travelling in economy. Also in Heathrow Terminal 1 there is a priority ticket sales desk and priority check-in exclusively for silver and gold card members.
gold card membership
For gold card members you'll get an enhanced package of exclusive benefits and special discounts. You are entitled to four complimentary upgrade vouchers which can be used when you purchase tickets for a bmi flight. A dedicated telephone number for enquiries and requests, and exclusive gold card events throughout the year.
