i have read that many people do not like bwee, for their lack of time-keeping, their rude staff, their poor food, their poor entertainment, their bad connections, the list goes on and on!!
i have now flown bwee from london to guyana, via port of spain, trinidad, 5 times now, and have never experienced anything like the above statements, with the exception of in-flight entertainment.
time-keeping.. the logest delay i have had is for 1 hour, at heathrow (t3). this was due to the pilot being unhappy with a warning light being on in the cockpit! whoa there!! a pilot delaying the flight for safety reasons....damn take all the time you want sir!! needless to say i was very impressed at this!
rude staff!!! i always talk to airline staff with the respect they truly deserve! maybe this is why i have never experienced a rude member of staff! i am a cab driver in my home town, so have dealt with my fair share of rude people, people who think they are better than you are, because they may be in a 'better' line of work. respect is a thing to give before receiving!
the food, well the plastic meals that are served are in direct comparison to those on the big carriers, assuming you get one on the big carrier that is! on the long haul from london all soft drinks are free, fair enough, in this day and age of d.v.t. you dont really want to be drinking alcohol in flight anyway!
the in-flight entertainment... well, the radio was fine, i guess if someone doesn't like carribeanmusic, then maybe they are on the wrong flight!, the movies are generally older. they could improve on this area., but the films are still watchable.
connections, well since they moved the connection from antigua to trinidad, the delay on the outbound has been drastically reduced, although transfering from an airbus A340 to a tiny dash 8 prop, is an experience, especially as i am not too small in build. (i had to ask for the extention belt, but was not made to feel bad, no sarcastic comments about my size, unlike my time with B.A.)
the return is with a boeing 737 to trinidad, and the wait at p.o.s. is only 3 hrs for the connecting london flight.
once you hit the airbus, you will find the legroom is more than sufficient, although the seat could do with a bit more padding, my butt was a bit numb after 7 hrs!
if you are going to the carribean, use bwee! not as posh as others, but a damn site cheaper, if you are booking in the u.k., then maybe use 'the travel shop' based at 2 selkirk rd, tooting, london. the price i just paid on the 1st april, travelling on the 2nd, returning on the 12th, was just £ 560, in lower season times i have paid as low as £495!
use bwee!!!(just dont book with them, use an agent!)
