WOW!!! On the 26th of Sept 04 my husband and I flew to St Lucia from Heathrow! I am a nervous passanger so three weeks before we flew I contacted BWIA via e-mail asking if there was any way I could reserve seating near the front of economy as I am more comfortable there. Whick the kindly did!We had travelled the same day from Germany to London. At Check-in it was noted that I had reserved seating no problem! After two weeks in Paradise we arrived in Hewannora for our return flight. We were given bording cards with row46 on them so straight away I said to the girl that there must be some mistake and asked her to change them explaining that I was nervous and had reserved seats in row 17!!!! She refused to change them and told me that you could not reserve seats with BWIA so I said fine just change them and move me closer to the front to which she said she could not do as all the other seats were booked ( i should point out here that we were the very 1st people in line to check in for the flight) So I had no choice but to take the seats I had which I did. After bording the flight which was 2 hours late We had the family from hell get on who had been giving the wrong seat then during the 8 hour flight is was discovered that a man had managed to drink a WHOLE bottle of rum while on board then kept falling into other passangers one of which punched him. While all of this was happening the cabin crew were at the back of the plane chatting!! I must at this stage point out that when they arrived the cabin crew handled things very professionally removing the drunk man to another seat after he had been sick!!! Talk about In-flight entertainment!!! So all in all not very impressed. I do understand that most of my complaint is not BWIA's fault however I felt that there was a lack of customer service on the ground in St Lucia and on board. Shame as we did have a wonderful holiday next time I think it will be VIRGIN!!!!!!!

I really wonder why they serve alcohol on planes - you'd think we'd be able to manage without for a few hours, and problems like the rum-drinker caused would just never happen! Anyway, hope you are enjoying Ciao :o) Kirstyxx
