Dinard
Review of Dinard - Brittany, France (DNR) by shaniafeng

Advantages: Convinient and modern city near the beach, tasty and traditional food of Brittany
Disadvantages: I don't find any disavantages.

...from london standsted airport to dinard by Ryanair, Dinard a great place, it's a place to connect UK and Brittany. I t's near the sea, and it's modern city compared to other cities in Britany. By the sea, there is a Casino to for visitors and local people, however, there are not many games, tables are not opened before 9pm. The food in Dinard is as great as in other cities of Brittany, espcially the 'Moules a la mariniere', mussels with sauce that ... Read review

Stoned in Brittany
Review of Carnac, Brittany by weetoon

Advantages: An amazing, mysterious place.
Disadvantages: You cannot get near the stones.

Carnac, in Brittany, is one of the high places of megalithic culture. The great standing stone alignments are to Brittany what Stonehenge is to prehistoric England. I first visited this as a very young child and there is somewhere a picture of me sitting on a megalith aged about four. Nowadays though, a visit to Carnac is rather different, as the menhirs (a Breton word for standing stone) cannot be approached most of the time, due to the huge numbers ...
...the soil around the monuments. The Morbihan area is particularly rich in megalithic structures, and around Carnac itself, there are many outstanding monuments to visit such as the amazing sculpted cairn at Gavrinis or the megalithic ensemble at Locmariaquer which comprises two tumuli (covered tombs) and a massive standing stone which before it was broken measured 20 metres (64 ft) and weighed almost 350t. You could if you so wished organise to have ... Read review

A PART OF FRENCH LIFE.
Review of The Abbey of Bon Repos. by thingywhatsit

Advantages: History brought back to life by today's generation.
Disadvantages: None.

...small enough not to obscure the views, you look towards an Archway that takes the visitor back in time to the Abbey of Bon Repos, which means "Good Rest". The abbey was built in 1184, and has been demolished and rebuilt many times following wars since that time. Although the Abbey itself is not a good place for handicapped, having none of the easy walkways to take you into the abbey, what this Abbey offers is more than most historic buildings, in ...
...enjoyable events and possibilities to the able bodied and disabled alike. Set in a beautiful setting alongside the River Blavet, the friends of Bon Repos have been gradually rebuilding the abbey and visitors can take part just by partaking in the events, or by the purchase of a slate to be laid on the roof of the abbey. The most popular of the paid events is the Son et Lumiere or sound and light show. All of the participants in the pageant that ... Read review

MY ALL YEAR ROUND HOLIDAY DESTINATION.
Review of Guerledan Lake Area by thingywhatsit

Advantages: A wonderful opportunity to enjoy peace and tranquility.
Disadvantages: Perhaps not wild enough for those wishing for night life.

...fortunate to live in the Guerledan Lake area of Brittany. This is arguably one of the most beautiful areas of France and I can do nothing short of enthusing about what the area has to offer the public. Why would I want an influx of tourists to my area ? Well, the fact is that it is so enormous, so widespread and so accessible that even on a busy day, it has a habit of camouflaging the tourists, and remaining a force of nature, and one that is splendid. ...
...My favourite areas around the Guerledan Lake are the more discreet areas, like the many walkways around the lake, which have been improved upon in recent times, and where the walking is easy, and there is much to see. I also enjoy very much the pathways along the Nantes Brest Canal, which are ideal pathways for bikes, and really not crowded, and completely safe. Eating in the area is so varied in choice. From Dish of the Day menus from 10 Euros, ... Read review

Fantastic Fishy Fun
Review of Oceanopolis, Brest, Brittany by samc

Advantages: Fantastic day out
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to find, not all exhibits translated into English

Our mission: to pass the time until we could book into our holiday cottage, whilst entertaining our 6 year old. Having rejected "just hanging around" and spending the day at l'hypermarche we decided to drive down to Brest, about an hours drive from the ferry port at Roscoff. GETTING THERE The journey itself was straight forward and all on main roads, UNTIL we got to Brest itself. It was probably the combined effect of a bored child and two sleep ...
...not quite a long enough journey to get a good nights sleep, and they will insist on crossing the Channel which kept waking us up) but we didn't seem to be able to find any signs for the place. So we headed for the centre of town, thinking such a major attraction would be well signposted. Which it was. Eventually. After an extensive tour of Brest town centre, we made our way down to the end of a long road et voila! ENTRANCE FEES At 15 euros (about ... Read review
