Clean Mean Airport Machine
Review of Brussels (BRU) by fallen121

Advantages: Good shopping, good transport links, signs and announcements in many languages.
Disadvantages: Lack of no smoking areas

...~~~~~~~~~ I have travelled to Brussels airport (or Zaventem as it is known to the locals) many times, both on my way to North America and to visit the city of Brussels itself. I find it to be a clean and modern airport, not too crowded and with excellent facilities. The duty free shops are some of the best I have seen. Practically everybody who works there speaks English. Because the airport has excellent links to the centre of Brussels and beyond, ...
...of the sights that the Brussels has to offer if you are en route somewhere and have more than five hours to wait for your connecting flight. If you have only a couple of hours to spare I would NOT recommend travelling into central Brussels, however. Getting To And From The Airport ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are excellent facilities for car rental from the airport, with rental desks for all the major firms such as Budget, Hertz, Avis, National ... How To Get a Taxi At Brussels Airport
Review of Brussels (BRU) by polydeuces

Advantages: Excellent transport links, well signposted airport
Disadvantages: You can face a long walk

...What can you say about Brussels airport? If you are flying to Brussels you will find the runway conveniently placed under the wheels of the aircraft as it lands. On taking off the runway is conveniently flat. At night the runways have lights to aid the pilots landing. But it is hardly product differentiation is it. The thing about Brussels airport is that it must be the biggest and busiest airport which relies on one terminal. What this means if ...
...have time to kill in Brussels you will find an extensive range of shops. Prices are not that good however and unless you are addicted to designer labels and wear them like a rash you will not find any bargains. There is drink and cigarettes for sale in what used to be ‘Duty Free’ shops but you should have bought them away from the airport if you really wanted to save money or have real choice. The food areas are often quite busy. The ... Read review

The unwelcoming face of the EU
Review of Brussels (BRU) by Pinotage

Advantages: Near to Brussesl, regular rail connections
Disadvantages: Unfriendly, unwelcoming, unruly queues as immigration and security

...foreign experience was in a Brussels airport toilet. But that's not really relevant to the new modernised airport, so I'll tell the tale at the end of this piece. As someone who works in Europe frequently I look forward to the day when I can use the Euro instead of constantly changing money, I am in favour of the EU. Brussels is its capital and Brussels airport (Zaventum) is its first introduction to many of us. And what a depressing introduction. ...
...and drive from Calais to Brussels you cross the Belgium border at 70 mph without even realising it. But at Brussels airport the words European Union on your passport mean nothing. It is examined and flipped back to you. The special EU Blue customs channels are frequently closed and you have to use the green channel. You’d expect Brussels of all places to support the EU ideals. When leaving Belgium you must once again present boarding card and passport ... Read review

Brussels Modernized Airport
Review of Brussels (BRU) by fsammarc

Advantages: New Modern and easy to follow signs.
Disadvantages: You have to walk forever to pick up luggage.

Brussels has an excellent airport. After being there twice, I've got to admit that it is a very nice, modern and clean airport. Everything is new, spacious and always clean. The multi storey building is gorgious with a very interesting desin to it. The escalator section is open throughout all the floors. This adds a very open space design technique to it that helps people feel better. The Boarding Gates, lucky there is all those magic carpets, or ...
...plane. Overall though, Brussels Airport was fantastic. It was clean, spacious and I felt very safe in it. The only thing is the piccking up of the luggage, maybe if it would be closer it would be a better idea. I'm young and I can still walk up and down, but for those that have problems walking it must take forever. ... Read review

Hassle free experience
Review of Brussels (BRU) by iainkay1

Advantages: Clean, easy to get to
Disadvantages: BA Check in

When coming to Brussels for a weekend dont expect the hassle of other airports in Europe where it takes an hour to get out of the airport after being in wait at immigration etc. Brussels does it so much better we were through the airport in 20 mins and 30 mins later in the city centre by using the train which I highly recommend at 95BFR . Also on the return journey the train was a great option especialaly with using the trams to connect all of which ...
...here!). When at the airport my only criticism was the British Airways Check in . It was disorganised and very unhelpful a real case of dont bother me as I am not bothered with you.Having got my bags labelled to the correct destination I went shopping and what a great range of shops they have there . The catering is of a good standard and cleanliness is superb. I hope your experience will be as good if not better than mine. ... Read review

Sabena and Virgin Express a Codeshare made in Hell
Review of Sabena - SAB by  AlfWilbert

Advantages: I can not think of any
Disadvantages: Too many to list

...I feel compelled writing to share a recent experience I had with Sabena, the Belgium Carrier, with you all. It should be noted, that whilst I booked the flight with Sabena and my Ticket was a Sabena Ticket, the flight was actually operated by Virgin Express, a code share partner with Sabena. Whilst I accept that weather is outside the control of airlines, I do not accept that this seems to be frequently used as a "cheap" excuse by the airlines. To elaborate:- I was unfortunate enough to have booked a flight on Sabena from Brussels (BRU) to London Heathrow (LHR), using the following Itinerary:- 14.11.2000, BRU to LHR 10:25 15.11.2000, LHR to BRU 18:25 I use the word "unfortunate" for the simple reason as I, like my fellow passengers, have been subjected to a delay totalling nearly 9 hours on two segments of about 40 minutes flight...
