Five Star Luxury Hotel

Advantages: Walking distance to the fashionable shopping district of Avenue Louise.
Disadvantages: A long walk to the Grand Place where many eating places are based.

This impressive hotel located on the Avenue Louise was close to Brussels' most fashionable shopping district. The 5 star Hotel Bristol Stephanie is ideally situated for both business and leisure travellers. The hotel offers 142 spacious bedrooms (Classic and Executive), a restaurant « Le Chalet d'Odin », a bar « Stefany's », conference and banqueting rooms, a fitness centre and an underground parking. We booked this hotel through Expedia.com for ...
...and paid only £100.00 for two people in a standard room. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, tea & coffee making facilities, trouser-press, iron & ironing board, cable & satellite TV with an interactive system (Internet Acces and in-house video), minibar & telephones (with modem, voice-mail, fax plugs). The spacious bathrooms (separate toilet) are equipped with a hair-dryer and a telephone. There are other rooms, such as, executive rooms ...

Brussels sweatbox

Advantages: Close to city centre, train
Disadvantages: Seedy part of town, dirty, unfriendly

...wife and I headed to Hotel Vendome for what appeared on Expedia as a well kept and reasonable hotel. It took us about 8 minutes walk from the main train station to get to Vendome, and we were greeted by two abrupt and unfriendly staff at the counter. They had to check three times only to realise we had a reservation, then gave us our keys. We asked for a map of the surrounding area and got one as small as a tubemap which did not help us whatsoever. ...
...On a brighter note, the hotel did provide a decent breakfast of bacon, eggs, bread, cheese, jams, bagels and an assortment of teas, coffees and juices which was included in the cost. This however could not make up for the night at the sweatbox, so we gathered our belongings and made our way to a nearby hotel... WITH A/C! ...

No Customer Care

Advantages: Clean
Disadvantages: In the middle of sex shops and aopposite a seedy all night club

...for 3 nights at this hotel Thursday Friday and Saturday as a treat for my husbands Birthday, I phoned on the Monday before our travel, and asked if there was anything special that they could recommend to make our stay extra special as it was my husbands birthday, they suggested that I could have flowers, fruits, chocolates and champagne waiting in our room for our arrival, and all they needed in advance was an email stating our expected date and ...
...with this being a 5* hotel that everything would be ok. Well Arrived at hotel little after our expected arrival time checked in got to room NO chocolates NO champagne. Went down to reception and queried this, and was told they never got my email, but someone if the back office who never came out to face me did remember my call, and no apology, but they did offer to do this for the evening but I declined as the moment had passed, I was slightly agitated ...

Good location, but slightly tired fittings

Advantages: Excellent location (only 5 minutes walk from the Grand Place), free wireless internet access
Disadvantages: Fittings seemed well-used, rooms dark

...spent three nights at the Scandic Grand Place, as we had arranged a block booking for the conference I was organising in Brussels and the Scandic Grand Place was the more moderately priced hotel in which we had got a discounted rate, although I ended up booking through hotelclub.net as it was another EUR 25 a night cheaper, so I was paying EUR 110 per night including breakfast. I was able to check in early - arriving at just before 11am on the Saturday ...
...usually check-in is from 2pm. My room was quite small, with the fittings somewhat on the basic side - we'd been told that the hotel was 4* although I would place it as a 3* - in particular since there was no gym available (currently being renovated). The fittings were somewhat basic - and there was no safe in the room, which is something that I tend to take for granted at a hotel of this class. There was also no ironing board or trouser press, although ...

Superb receptionists pave the way

Advantages: good value, great receptionists, comfy beds and decent breakfast choice
Disadvantages: view from bedroom, but who cares? You're there to explore, not sit in your room!

For all potential guests here be aware that there are mixed reviews about this place on other sites. Having read many of them I can honestly say that they were accurate on the part of good reviews, and petty on the part of the negative reviews. Each to their own experience though. I took my fiancee to this hotel for a Valentine's weekend break, and we thouroughly enjoyed our 3 days in Brussels. Starting with the initial feel of the place we felt ...
...cheap rate with breakfast deal. We chose well! Upon our arrival late on a Friday evening we were greeted by 2 very pleasant young ladies on reception who were most helpful, and English speaking for those of us lacking the skill or inclination to converse in either native French or Flemish tongues. As it was a 'special' deal, I hadn't expected a great room, but again pleasantly surprised by a decent sized room with twin bed pushed together and very ...
