Four points by sheraton, Brussells
Review of Four Points by Sheraton Brussels, Brussels by
jakeam
Advantages: Clean and friendly
Disadvantages: Distance from Grand Place
My partner and I stayed here for two nights from the 29th Feb, we stayed on a room only basis and didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the restaurant. The room was quite large and comfortable which also had ensuite facilities however some of the decor was starting to look a little shabby, we noticed a couple of cracked tiles in the ensuite and a fire exit sign hanging off in one of the corridor. We did have a drink down in the bar during the ...

The Quiet City
Review of Hotel Leopold Brussels, Ixelles by
Thelemontree
Advantages: A quiet city to chill in
Disadvantages: A quiet city!
...supplied great food.
The hotel was great - except the bedroom. It's one of the smallest I have ever stayed in - I think that we were given a duff room! Looking at the room map on the back of the door we were in the smallest on the floor! The walls were painted very darkly which didn't help the room size "effect" at all. And there was no hot water! On only one morning did I manage to have a shower. However, the hotel was clean and tidy, and the staff ...

Minimalist Art
Review of Comfort Hotel Art Siru, Sint-Joost-ten-Node by
Olly_Plimsoll
Advantages: Central, cheap, artistic
Disadvantages: No facilities, rubbish breakfast
...the hotel itself.
The Comfort Hotel Art Siru (or the Siru as I'll refer to it from now on) is a strange beast. A few years ago, around 130 contemporary Belgian artists were commissioned to decorate each of the 101 rooms, to create the world's first 'Art Hotel'. Every room is decorated with unique and original paintings or sculptures, and it really is a lovely idea.
The bizarre thing is that you'd expect this kind of innovation in some kind of high-end ... ...budget business traveller. It's a Comfort Inn with better decoration. There's no bar and the only facilities are a conference room and a breakfast area. Oh, and a vending machine on the fourth floor. Basically, the whole art thing seems to be a bit of a gimmick for a hotel that would otherwise be a bit lost, sandwiched as it is between the Hilton and the Sherraton.
I kept wondering if I was just missing the point, as I roamed the corridors in search ...

Novotel Brussels off grand place
Review of Novotel Brussels off Grand Place, Brussels by
thealbertross1
Advantages: Fantastic location
Disadvantages: Beibg rebuilt during my stay
This is an excellent clean and modern hotel with a terrific location and affordable rates. Firstly, the location is just a few blocks from both the Central Station and the Grand Place; the main tourist trap of the capital.
This saved time and money as I was able to begin my Brussels adventures just about immediately after arrival into the city. Most of the main sights in Brussels are within walking distance; such as Grande place, Mannekan and Jannekan ... ...the Grand Place, you can easily drop in to dump stuff in your room or take a quick break from sightseeing , shopping, culture and dining.
I was able to get a good 'city break' rate of 72 Euros per night with breakfast, pre-paid. The staff were very helpful during check-in considering the hotel was being renovated and many staff members apeared stressed.
The manager was able to recommend restaurants, which was nice since the Grand Place area has ...

Not exactly colonial
Review of Hotel des Colonies, Sint-Joost-ten-Node by
enevel
Advantages: Central, inexpensive.
Disadvantages: Poor service, stark rooms, no English cable tv.
The Hotel des Colonies is on a side street off of one of Brussells' main drags (not far from the Gare du Nord).
It is right next to the huge Sheraton, and a few hundred yards from what seems to be the heart of the local sex trade (lots of places called 'Bar American'!).
The brochure said it was recently refurbished. If 1970s is recent, then that is true.
The rooms are functional, but the general hotel facilities are not.
The bar is closed all ...
