Laughing all the way to the Grand Place.

Advantages: Price and Transport Links
Disadvantages: Not in the city centre.

My partner and I booked this hotel through the Eurostar website and stayed from New Years Day for 3 nights. Once we arrived we realised that the price we'd paid was nothing compared to the quality of the hotel. Not only was the room actually an appartment but the balcony we had unexpectedly been given afforded the most fantastic view over the city and was of ample size to have put the dining table and chairs on had it not been the middle of winter. ...
...the gym/sauna facilties the standard of cleanliness, maintenance and service I saw elsewhere would lead me to believe that these were of a very high standard also. In terms of location whilst the hotel is outside the main centre of Brussels it is all of a 30 second walk from a Metro stop. The 72hr Brussels card is also a great investment. Costing 30euros it gives you free travel and free admission to almost every museum in the city. Although the ...

Good location, but slightly tired fittings

Advantages: Excellent location (only 5 minutes walk from the Grand Place), free wireless internet access
Disadvantages: Fittings seemed well-used, rooms dark

...spent three nights at the Scandic Grand Place, as we had arranged a block booking for the conference I was organising in Brussels and the Scandic Grand Place was the more moderately priced hotel in which we had got a discounted rate, although I ended up booking through hotelclub.net as it was another EUR 25 a night cheaper, so I was paying EUR 110 per night including breakfast. I was able to check in early - arriving at just before 11am on the Saturday ...
...usually check-in is from 2pm. My room was quite small, with the fittings somewhat on the basic side - we'd been told that the hotel was 4* although I would place it as a 3* - in particular since there was no gym available (currently being renovated). The fittings were somewhat basic - and there was no safe in the room, which is something that I tend to take for granted at a hotel of this class. There was also no ironing board or trouser press, although ...

Nice hotel, shame about the view

Advantages: Good package deals available
Disadvantages: No view

Location – Off the ring road along the top edge of the city centre. Most 4 and 5 * hotels seem to be located along this stretch - the Hilton, Sheraton and Plaza are all nearby. The Botanic Gardens are next to the hotel and offer the chance of a nice walk in the park. One of the main pedestrian shopping streets is opposite so the location is great if you’re there to shop. For the rest of the sights, the main square (Grand Place), is a 15-20 min walk ...
...The only downside to the location is there are no restaurants near the hotel (apart from the one at the hotel) so it’s a metro ride or a walk in the evening to your dinner. Rogier Metro station is across the road from the hotel so it’s very easy to get to the hotel. There are limited Metro stops in the centre but most sights weren’t too far away from one. Nord railway station is also a few minutes away. The hotel – Four star hotel with nice, old ...

A Classic Case of Trying TOO Hard

Advantages: I slept well
Disadvantages: Too much style and nothing like enough substance at this price

...like. The hotel was the Vintage Hotel and it was less than a mile away. She would have paid for a taxi to take me there but my colleague was happy to take me and by doing so, he would be sure to know where the hotel was when he came to collect me in the morning. We struggled a bit with the one way system and it took about 15 minutes before we finally found the hotel. Concerned that I might be about to suffer another 'no room at the inn' incident, ...
...have anti matter, then the Vintage Hotel was the 'Anti-hotel' of the White Hotel. The Vintage is obsessed with the design of a period from around 1950 to late 1970s. That at least is my guess because the theme really wasn't strong enough to tie it down to a narrower range. When my mother first met my stepfather in the 1970s he had psychedelic vinyl wall paper of such horrific impact that I suspect she almost turned on her heel and grabbed her coat. ...

Superb receptionists pave the way

Advantages: good value, great receptionists, comfy beds and decent breakfast choice
Disadvantages: view from bedroom, but who cares? You're there to explore, not sit in your room!

For all potential guests here be aware that there are mixed reviews about this place on other sites. Having read many of them I can honestly say that they were accurate on the part of good reviews, and petty on the part of the negative reviews. Each to their own experience though. I took my fiancee to this hotel for a Valentine's weekend break, and we thouroughly enjoyed our 3 days in Brussels. Starting with the initial feel of the place we felt ...
...cheap rate with breakfast deal. We chose well! Upon our arrival late on a Friday evening we were greeted by 2 very pleasant young ladies on reception who were most helpful, and English speaking for those of us lacking the skill or inclination to converse in either native French or Flemish tongues. As it was a 'special' deal, I hadn't expected a great room, but again pleasantly surprised by a decent sized room with twin bed pushed together and very ...
