Hostel in Brussels
Review of Jacques Bre, Brussels by
mtpatton
Advantages: Free internet, nice room, cheap
Disadvantages: Brussels is a bit dull
We stayed in this hostel whilst in Beligum over the weekend. We booked a double private ensuite bathroom room for €90 from the Hostelworld.com website. The hostel was more then adequate. The room was a nice big room and the bathroom was also a reasonable size. The Beds were comfortable. The hostel is loctated within a five minute walk from the main metro line through the citry and is very easy to locate as it had a big sign ouside it. The hostel ... ...in the middle of it
The hostel was very secure. Each person got a key card for thier visit and the key card only allowed access to certain parts of the building. Which gave you an extra feeling of been able to leave your stuff around without fear of it going missing. The room also offered 2 lockers, but sadly one in our room was broken.
The hostel offered a very good breakfest to help us on our way for our travels ahead with a wide variety of cheeses, ...

Bargain hotel in the heart of Brussels
Review of Hesperia Sablon, Brussels by
larsbaby
Advantages: Decent hotel, great price on Expedia
Disadvantages: Will you be able to get the same deal?
INTRODUCTION
Brussels is a handy place to meet if you're in the South Netherlands and your girlfriend is in London. Thanks to Eurostar and Dutch rails, we can both make it there in a couple of hours. My girlfriend managed to get a great deal on a hotel thanks to Expedia, and so here is a review of that hotel, which in my opinion is well worthy of consideration. Seems like the name has slighly changed since this was added to Ciao in 2006, to ... ...right place!
THE LOCATION
Hotel Eurostars Sablon is located opposite the Museum of Ancient and Modern Art in the city centre, 500 metres from the Royal Palace. This makes it a very handy location for the tourist areas. We found it a five minute walk to the Central train station, and a ten minute walk to the main tourist area of Grand Place. Even better was the fact that near to the hotel were several excellent restaurant with reasonable prices. ...

Four points by sheraton, Brussells
Review of Four Points by Sheraton Brussels, Brussels by
jakeam
Advantages: Clean and friendly
Disadvantages: Distance from Grand Place
My partner and I stayed here for two nights from the 29th Feb, we stayed on a room only basis and didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the restaurant. The room was quite large and comfortable which also had ensuite facilities however some of the decor was starting to look a little shabby, we noticed a couple of cracked tiles in the ensuite and a fire exit sign hanging off in one of the corridor. We did have a drink down in the bar during the ...

Five star luxury in the hear of Brussels
Review of Le Meridien Brussels, Brussels by
andrewfleminguk
Advantages: Location, size, quality service and comfort
Disadvantages: Some will not like the limited facilities
...fortunate enough to stay at Le Meridien, in Brussels a few weeks back after winning a competition. It was a novel situation all round as I would not normally be able to afford to stay at this quite exclusive establishment on my travel and subsistence budget and, even if I were I would be too busy to appreciate my surroundings. I do visit Brussels a lot for work and have stayed in many hotels (I reviewed the Welcome Hotel a while back and this remains ... ...while.
Ownership
The Le Meridien chain is managed by the US based Starwood Group. This also includes the Sheraton, Westin and St Regis chains amongst others. They operate 888 hotels worldwide, 499 are managed and the balance are franchised. The link to the Le Meridien, in Brussels is through the Starwood web site. This is the best link for a full list of all the services available and I am not duplicating such lists in my reviews as this is not ...

A Brussels gem!
Review of A-XL Flathotel, Ixelles by
swaranjit
Advantages: Location, cleanliness and value for money
Disadvantages: A 15 minute walk to the nearest metro station
...and I stayed at the A-XL Flathotel in late August of 2007. This is what we thought of the place:
- We paid Euro 60 per night for our flat through a popular hotel booking site on the Internet. However, some sites were offering the same accommodation for more that double that figure, so make sure you shop around before you make a reservation.
- The A-XL is situated on Rue de la Croix, a quiet street just off Ave Louise, one of Brussels' most up-market ... ...the whole street Rue de la Croix, but this is not true. If you approach the hotel from Ave Louise, then you need to turn onto Rue du Beau Site, which then becomes Rue de la Croix.
- The location of the hotel cannot be faulted: across the street from a small late-night store; 2 minutes walk from tram stop Defacqz (tram 94); five minutes walk from the Delhaize supermarket on Rue de Hennin; five minutes walk from a local high street (Elsensesteenweg); ...
