The Wild Geese Brussels
Advantages: Good Location Disadvantages: Racist Door Policy
...readers of all nationalities that the Wild Geese operates a racist door policy. I am a Black british expat myself, and I live on the actual square where it is located but have never been let in by the doormen, except when with white friends. This has now happened on three seperate occasions. The reason given for the Nazi style door slamming upon our approach is 'regulars only, I don't know you'.
You can bypass this as I have done several times by ... ...There is nothing really special about this pub, just that most people will speak English and Thursdays nights in particular are really packed. If you want a cheesy early start to the weekend with loads of EU staff, this is the place for you.

I hope the Royals got better service than we did
Advantages: Nice looking dining room Disadvantages: Just about everything else
Fin de Siecle is located on Brussels' famous Avenue Louise and looks very grand from the outside. It's a beautiful old building with high ceilings and you enter into a great looking lobby with some spectacular theatre-style curtains made from luxurious fabric. On the table in the corridor is a visitors' book signed by the king and queen of Belgium and the restaurant wants to make sure you know that they have friends in high places. Passing into the ... ...in front and then the dining area runs the depth of the building before high doors open onto the garden terrace - or at least they would if we hadn't turned up in the middle of an October downpour. The restaurant is a visual feast of old original features, gorgeous plaster work on the ceilings, old paintings and more lovely floor to ceiling curtains. The floors are worth a look, mostly parquet (though as my colleague pointed out badly damaged) with ...

Decent Thai buffet in central Brussels
Advantages: Good buffet food, good price Disadvantages: Not sure what the a la carte is like
...the lady chanced upon the Lotus Bar in the Sablon area near to our hotel. Having walked around for a good half hour looking for something that took our fancy, we thought we'd give this place a bash for the buffet. So here we are.
THE RESTAURANT
The restaurant was on 2 floors, the entrance being on the upper floor. A red curtain covered the entrance door and the décor was very dark, with black painted tables and chairs. Most of the tables ... ...I thought the informal atmosphere and friendly service was just what I needed for a Sunday afternoon.

Belly dancer decapitation a real possibility
Advantages: Excellent food and service Disadvantages: Belly dancing safety hazard
INTRODUCTION
I thought it was time to escape the Dutch food for a weekend and visit somewhere that appreciates real food - welcome to Brussels. Along with some friends also visiting Brussels, I was taken to the restaurant by a friend of mine from Brussels who was recommended this place by her sister. This was a little bit outside the centre of town, in one of the ethnic districts. There were many other restaurants in the same area, and I was ... ...We decided on Lebanese food as we'd heard it was good due to all the Middle Eastern immigrants and were keen to try this with the recommendation in our minds.
THE RESTAURANT
First impression were good; a roomy restaurant, with room for about 100 diners, with several Lebanese people eating there - always a good sign. The atmosphere was pretty convivial and relaxed. We were shown to a large round table, covered with a huge white tablecloth, ...

More of a bar
Advantages: Good Guinness Disadvantages:
The Bank, off down by Place Chatelain, is more of a pub styled bar than a restaurant, and it serves a good, if not slightly pricey pint of Guinness. There are tables on the street, as well as big sofas inside. The walls are decorating with safes. If you go into the men's loos then look carefully at the messages written there.... They are very sick... They do have have live music occasionally, but usually it is just a place to chill out and get a ...
