The Wild Geese Brussels
Review of The Wild Geese by eugeneonline

Advantages: Good Location
Disadvantages: Racist Door Policy

...readers of all nationalities that the Wild Geese operates a racist door policy. I am a Black british expat myself, and I live on the actual square where it is located but have never been let in by the doormen, except when with white friends. This has now happened on three seperate occasions. The reason given for the Nazi style door slamming upon our approach is 'regulars only, I don't know you'. You can bypass this as I have done several times by ...
...There is nothing really special about this pub, just that most people will speak English and Thursdays nights in particular are really packed. If you want a cheesy early start to the weekend with loads of EU staff, this is the place for you. Brgds, Eugene ... Read review

Belly dancer decapitation a real possibility
Review of Chatelaine Du Liban, Brussels by larsbaby

Advantages: Excellent food and service
Disadvantages: Belly dancing safety hazard

INTRODUCTION I thought it was time to escape the Dutch food for a weekend and visit somewhere that appreciates real food - welcome to Brussels. Along with some friends also visiting Brussels, I was taken to the restaurant by a friend of mine from Brussels who was recommended this place by her sister. This was a little bit outside the centre of town, in one of the ethnic districts. There were many other restaurants in the same area, and I was ...
...We decided on Lebanese food as we'd heard it was good due to all the Middle Eastern immigrants and were keen to try this with the recommendation in our minds. THE RESTAURANT First impression were good; a roomy restaurant, with room for about 100 diners, with several Lebanese people eating there - always a good sign. The atmosphere was pretty convivial and relaxed. We were shown to a large round table, covered with a huge white tablecloth, ... Read review

Irish Bar Brussels Style
Review of Celtica by nlongmuir

Advantages: Open all hours, inexpensive local beer, good food, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Spirits and Guiness Expensive, very hot in summer months, no air conditioning, friday nights can be quite rowdy

...essence of Europe's capital. Celtica is not the stereotypical Irish Bar that we all know and love. Its clientele come from all backgrounds, from business men working within the political compounds of the EU to students and backpackers tarvelling through thew city, usually on the way to somewhere more exotic. It has a friendly atmosphere and the bar staff give out plenty of advice on the best places to visit and to eat. Celtica offers traditional ...
...a more reasonable price. Celtica comes to life mainly after 10pm every night of the week, when upstairs is open. DJ's play to a young and fairly rowdy crowd until around 4am most nights. Celtica is practically a 24 hour bar so needs can be satisfied anytime, night or day! It is a great bar which is easily accessible and where everybody is always welcome ... Read review

Bizarre, Strange, Gimicky, but FUN!
Review of Le Cercueil by kayleybo

Advantages: Unusual, good gimick, beer in skulls!!!
Disadvantages: pricey beer!

Brussells has always been a place that attracts me time and time again. On our last visit we stumbled across the 'Coffin Bar', located just off a small road from the Grand Place. The bar has a strange decor from the outside, with lanterns, grave stones and coffins - the theme that continues throughout this small and cosy bar. Inside the bar is pitch black and gently lit with lanterns thus, the bar mainly attracts couples looking for a romantic ...
...couples there is also a 'snug area' consisting of huge sofas and lit softly by candle light. The drinks also follow the spooky theme with beer served in large skull-like glasses. Be warned, drinks are very pricey compared to other bars around the Grand Place. On the whole, if you are looking for a change to the trendy bars Brussels has to offer I would recommend this place. It has to be seen to be believed...just make sure you take your cash card!!! ... Read review

Decent Thai buffet in central Brussels
Review of Lotus Bar, Brussels by larsbaby

Advantages: Good buffet food, good price
Disadvantages: Not sure what the a la carte is like

...the lady chanced upon the Lotus Bar in the Sablon area near to our hotel. Having walked around for a good half hour looking for something that took our fancy, we thought we'd give this place a bash for the buffet. So here we are. THE RESTAURANT The restaurant was on 2 floors, the entrance being on the upper floor. A red curtain covered the entrance door and the décor was very dark, with black painted tables and chairs. Most of the tables ...
