Advantages: It's by Feist, new characters and lands for his ever evolving world Disadvantages: His first novel is so brilliant that this can never be as good.

Feist's genius has always been his rich description of the land in which his characters live and this novel continues in the same vein. From the pirate isles to the continent of Novindus ( home of the Pantathian Serpent Priests ) he allows his readers to further explore the world of Midkemia, much as he did with Prince of the Blood.
The novel itself is best described as a cross between a high fantasy novel and one of the Saturday matinee pirate films. The pace of the novel never lets up and it serves as a brilliant bridge between the novels of the Riftwar saga and the following Serpentwar Saga.
Again I find myself trying to write an opinion without giving the game away. Suffice to say that The King's Buccaneer is a book in a similar vein to the others of Feist's fantasy novels, which while a very good read is not quite ...
