Cheap & Cheerful, but bad bacon and a toilet ghost.....

Advantages: Cheap, Fantastic Location, Room fine
Disadvantages: Noises in toilet, rather dubious breakfast

...liked the sound of the Buchanan hotel because it was a fair size with 60 bedrooms (14 single, the rest double or twins) and because it had a restaurant where I could have an evening meal – reviews weren’t all glowing, but most agreed that it was good value for money, and an excellent location, right next to the station (apparently also good for air and coach links), and for me half a mile from the conference venue (in reality it was more like 200 ...

The Buchanan Hotel cost just £45 for the one night’s bed and breakfast in a single room (main reason for choosing!). A double or twin room cost £90, so the single rate wasn’t bad at all (it was £65 for single occupancy of a double or twin room - although I'm a bit unsure about this really, as at the end of the day my room was a twin ... more

Murder And Mystery At The Buchanan Arms

Advantages: Close to both Glasgow and the Trossachs National Park; an amazing murder mystery night
Disadvantages: Hotel is currently in administration (but luckily still trading!)

The Buchanan Arms is located in the village Drymen, approximately 14 miles from Glasgow, in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. It is a former coaching inn, and although the bar décor harks back to these origins; the hotel itself is thoroughly modern. It boasts gym facilities, swimming pool, a sauna and even a beauty salon. The rooms have a distinctly Scottish feel to them ? as well as tea and coffee, guests are provided with shortbread in the room as well. We stayed in a twin room, complete with a surprisingly large en suite bathroom (complete with complementary bath and shower gel), a TV, and free WiFi Internet access. Although it was a fairly bleak day weather-wise, the room felt very cosy and inviting, and we had a great view of the surrounding countryside from our window. We had a dinner as part of a murder mystery ...

A Review of the Holiday Inn Express Glasgow

Advantages: Location is perfect for shopping, eating out and going to the movies.
Disadvantages: Traffic noise.

I went to the Holiday Inn Express (Glasgow) on a short city break from my home in Aberdeen - it turned out to be a pretty good decision... Holiday Inn Express (Glasgow) - Right in the Heart of the City Visitors to Glasgow will find this the perfect base from which to see the sights. It is next to the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre and virtually next door to the huge 7 floor UGC cinema. (This gets very busy in the evenings, so I would advise placing a booking earlier in the day.) The Burrell Collection is within walking distance. It's especially handy for a short city break when you don't have much time to travel from the hotel into the city centre. There is, however, less easy access to new visitor attractions such as ...

The Bestest Place To Stay

Advantages: Friendly Staff, The Right Atmosphere - infact just perfect - oh and only £90 per room per night
Disadvantages: erm........erm.......I'm thinking......erm.......erm.....well the tissues were a bit hard on the nose....

You know how sometimes you go to one of those big fancy hotels for a special occasion and you are impressed just because of the price and reputation......well this is one of them....well except it isn't. See my work has sent me all over the country over the last few years and I've been fortunate enough to have been placed in some really posh hotels, but none of them - no matter how high the price - even came close to the fantastic experience we had in this hotel. See some hotels you go to have food is supposed to be fancy just because there is hardly any on your plate and theres half a tree sticking out it. Other hotels have snooty staff and snooty customers sneering at the fact that you have ordered a beer and some have staff that are just so unbelievable insincere that it leaves you completely cold. The Langs Hotel in Glasgow ...
