Some hush in Hungary
Advantages: Good location, delightful surprise Disadvantages: None
...city. We booked Hotel Baross Panzio through the friend of a friend who had just set up a travel accommodation agency in the Czech Republic. She was also offering to help people book accommodation in other cities of eastern Europe. My friend had originally mentioned her to me when I was looking for a room in Prague for the first night of my holiday but I had already manged to find something suitable. However I said that if she could come up with anything ... ...make a deal with the hotel to get a discount for the first few bookings she referred to the hotel. The view of the front exterior of the hotel is nothing special. If you look closely you might see that it is quite a nice Art Nouveau building but it is has been spoilt, like the rest of the terrace by the fascias of the companies who occupy the buildings. The ground floor of this building is occupied by a Pizza Hut Slice Bar so you notice that rather ...

KK Opera Hotel Budapest
Advantages: Good city centre location, great froiendly staff Disadvantages: small rooms, poor showers.
The last of a Hungary trilogy - I promise!!
The KK Opera Hotel wasn't my choice and I have mixed views about it. I'll be brief and to the point - no point in padding this one out
Location: Well being by the river is great, but this is in the centre of the old city , and is within spitting distance of the magnificent Opera House and right by the Opera Metro station; you can walk comfortably to the river in under 15 mins.
As a four star hotel costing ... ...4 star hotel. It had some good feature and it had some bad features.
Let's start with the bad features.
1.The room was by my own experience of 4star hotels, a bit on the small side.
2.The bathroom/toilet door was spring loaded. Metal to metal door latches at even a moderate speed makes a resounding and irritating crash. Not good for the occupant, not good for the neighbours especially at 4 in the morning. Not being a person who closes the toilet ...

Luxury in Budapest
Advantages: Clean, quiet, luxurious Disadvantages: None
...drive, we arrived at the hotel which is situated on a wide tree lined avenue, Andrassy Ut. We later found out that this is the principal thoroughfare in Budapest and is known as the Champs Elysees of Hungary, situated as it is in the Embassy district, and close to major attractions.
**First Impressions**
These are always important, and as the taxi pulled up into the front area which was rather like a modern cobbled courtyard, these first impressions ... ...a great bar/cavern-Piaf's and the hotel staff were very understandable about us coming in and going straight for breakfast.
The hotel itself is, as I mentioned, on an extremely quiet avenue, and is very near the underground (an experience in itself).
The hotel is included in the Small Luxury Hotels recommendation-Hungary's first and this is very well deserved.
the staff were extremely helpful, the whole hotel was spotlessly clean and there was ...

Everything you need at a reasonable price
Advantages: Clean and economical Disadvantages: Slightly away from the centre and the river
...spend 3 nights in the Hotel Budapest. I thought this was very reasonable, and particularly so when I reached the hotel, which is located on the Buda side of the city.
One thing to remember is that most people who provide any sort of service for you will expect some sort of tip. The hotel reception was welcoming and helpful (didn’t feel the need to tip here) and a porter was dispatched to carry my daughter’s and my luggage and to escort us up to ... ...and trams. Alternatively, directly opposite the hotel is a train station and a tram stop. A one or three day roaming ticket will permit you to travel anywhere in the city by train, tram or bus. Look out for the little kiosks that sell these tickets. Also near Mostzka tér are lots of shops, two very large modern shopping malls (lots of cups of tea on sale here!) and a local market selling a wide range of products. ...

Stylish and Well located
Advantages: Friendly staff, good location Disadvantages: Building works can be off putting initially
The Zara Boutique Hotel is located in Downtown Budapest onSo utca. It's a smart hotel although there are some building works going on at that end of the town at the moment so it can look a little run down at first site. We had an initial panic when we could here loud cutters outside our window when we got to our room but all work stopped at a sensible 5/6pm and didn't start up again until around 9/10am.
The Lobby is very airy and inviting and the ... ...size (room 107) with a nice bathroom and very large walk in shower (no bath). The shower was a welcome relief at the end of a long day slogging round Budapest!
The Hotel is located pretty much at the bottom end of Vaci utca, the main shopping street that cuts through Budapest, and its also 1 road away from the Danube. The location was excellent for our 3 day trip and we couldn't have asked for better. We managed to get a very good rate of 115 euros ...
