Advantages: Good value. Attentive staff. Clean and functional. Disadvantages: Out of town. Mediocre food.
I stay at this hotel quite often, on business, as the company I work for has a branch office close by. I am partial to the chain (if only to keep my loyalty club points in once place for maximum efficiency) although quality can vary significantly from one property to another.
LOCATION
This Holiday Inn is located just off Junction 18 of the M1 (less than three minutes), about 5 miles from Rugby itself, and significantly more from Northampton. As such, its not really practical for anyone who is not driving, unless they are visiting a location close by and will be taxi-ing to and from Rugby train station. There is nothing significant in walking distance, so its main clientele is the executive or managerial crowd passing through on their way to points north/south, or seemingly ever-present conference delegations.
FEEL & FACILITIES ...
Advantages: Excellent location, good breakfasts, restful atmosphere. Disadvantages: High room rates, rooms could be more spacious, cool welcome.
The Angel Inn, Corbridge, is a country town coaching inn providing bars, bar meals, a restaurant and accommodation. In this review, I will be focussing on the accommodation facilities.
The debate over where to go for our anniversary dinner raged for weeks. Finally, the great decision was made. The Angel Inn has had a reputation for good food for a number of years so we decided to give it a try and the idea of staying in the lovely country town of Corbridge overnight added to the appeal.
The Inn
The Angel, a coaching inn situated centrally in the town of Corbridge, is one of the oldest in Northumberland. Built in 1726 it is the oldest coaching inn in the town. In 2005 the inn underwent refurbishment after a change of ownership and in 2007 a re-modelled restaurant and bar were opened.
The inn offers a choice of bars ...
Advantages: Nice cheap hotel, very clean & comfortable Disadvantages: none
I first stayed in this hotel a few years ago because it was the only hotel I could get into for the WRC, we stayed there for a weekend.
We had never stayed at a Premier Inn before & we were very pleasantly surprised - the hotel is situated just off a large roundabout, (it is very easy to get to) & we found it very peaceful with no traffic noise what so ever.
The hotel is not very far from Cardiff so you can either drive in or the hotel has a bus stop close by and Caerphilly has a train station with a train running to cardiff at regular intervals, due to the horrible one way system in Cardiff we chose to catch the train in, it was only £4ish return & you get off right outside the Millenium Stadium.
From the outside the Hotel looked in very good condition & the inside was in just as nice condition, the reception was excellent - friendly ...
