I work for a publisher of history books, and spend a lot of my time researching and writing. I write in my spare time too - when I'm not travelling, hiking, camping, skiing or in the pub...

The main thing about Buenos Aires is that it is very expensive compared to the rest of South America - one dollar here equals one US dollar. We found it difficult to find somewhere cheap to stay. There are a few things worth doing and seeing - eating steak is one of them. However we were disappointed with the standard of the steaks we had - Chile was much better. We hunted round the cemetery for Evita's grave, and went to the new modern art gallery, which is great. We wandered through the rich district and had afternoon tea in a cafe where the rich and political allegedly hang out. We successfully crossed the widest street in the world, and negotiated the ultimately confusing public transport system. There's nothing actually wrong with BA, but its big, smelly, and takes a bit of effort.
