Good place to improve your health and relax with the family

Advantages: SPA, swimming pools, historical sights of the village
Disadvantages: very hot in the summer

The small village Hissar is in Bulgaria near a very famous city Plovdiv. Please don't think that Augusta SPA Hotel is in Plovdiv. It is in the small and very interesting historical city Hissar which 55 km far from Plovdiv. You may arrive in Sofia by irplane and go in Hissar by bus. Hissar is 174.64 far from the capital Sofia. Hissar city is located in the central part of the country under the southern slopes of the Central forest at 360 m above ...
...Augusta at least twice a year - we like it very much. The best seasons to visit this region are the autumn and the spring. In the summer it is really very hot. Hissar is an ancient town and its treasure is the mineral water. There are a lot of SPA Hotels and Augusta is one of the biggest. The hotel has two parts. The first one is renovated, the rooms are new and you have extras like big white bathrobes for the swimming pool and air condition. ...

One of the most interesting attractions in Varna, Bulgaria

Advantages: very interesting show
Disadvantages: the pool is small

Varna - one of my favorites cities I like to go in Varna because of the pleasant atmosphere. There is a big pedestrian zone with a lot of shops, restaurants and attractions. The children like the pop-corns and the ice cream. There is a big and beautiful Sea Garden in Varna. There are small restaurants in the Garden near the Sea. You will have the pleasure to taste the fresh fish with beer and salad. About the Dolphinarium If you visit ...
...the interesting show in the Dolphinarium. The Dolphinarium is near the beautiful Varna's Sea Garden. So, after the show you may go for a walk and breathe the fresh sea air. You may drink a coffee in the Dolphinarium and observe the dolphins. One of the walls of the coffe is from transparent glass and the dolphins pass from time to time in front of the glass. The pool seems to be small for the dolphins but as I know there is a project to renovate ...

Baldwin's Sticky End

Advantages: Stunning, curious
Disadvantages: A tad unsafe

Just down the road from where I live there's a medieval fortress that goes by the name of Tsarevets. The chances are you'll never make it here, (unless you decide to join the droves of Brits who are choosing Bulgaria as the location for their home in the sun, lured by cheap property prices and girls in very very short, tight skirts: I do wonder why so many English people feared a big invasion of Bulgarians after Bulgaria joined the European Union ...
...most of the human traffic is headed the opposite way! But I digress…), but just in case you find yourself in this neck of the woods and find yourself needing to make a buying decision about Tsaravets, the following information should aid you in your task. Tsaravets sits atop a hill in the pretty town of Veliko Turnovo, in northern Bulgaria. It's the main attraction in the town, and as such you'll have absolutely no problem finding it. (If you do ...

A Whiff of the Past

Advantages: Interesting and educational
Disadvantages: A little off the beaten track

...the wonderful and charming Etar Ethnographical and Architectural Museum? Situated about 5 miles south of Gabrovo (a mountain town allegedly founded by a blacksmith), the museum is an out-door complex consisting of workshops, where you can watch the craftsmen and women in action and then buy their traditionally made stuff. The museum stretches alongside a diverted part of the river Sivek, and is in narrow woodland valley, affording a very scenic day ...
...got a car, then taking a public bus from Gabrovo is possible, but it’s probably less stressful to get a cab. The fare shouldn’t cost more than 5 levs (about £1.80). If you do have your own wheels, keep your eyes peeled in all directions for signs and be prepared for fisticuffs in the car as you will undoubtedly get lost several times before you get there. I reckon the Bulgarians think it’s some kind of joke to put their road signs a) pointing in ...

A day in Varna

Advantages: Beautiful, Cheap
Disadvantages: Pickpockets

A visit to Varna was one of the highlights of my holiday in Bulgaria this summer. There's something for everyone. For the young there is a Dolphinarium, which, unfortuneately I didn't find time to visit. Between the Dolphinarium and the town centre are the Sea Gardens. These gardens contain a 'Monument to Fighters Against Fascism' (they lost), a long tree lined avenue with wide, well tended flower beds down the middle and busts of figures from Bulgarias ...
...museum. The shoping area itself is mainly along one straight road from the Sea Gardens to the Cathedral of the Assumption. Goods in the shops are reasonably priced but more expensive than other parts of Bulgaria (with the exception of Sofia). The only problem we had was that an English guy who runs anestate agents in the town warned us that a pick pocket was closing in. So do as we did and keep valuables well hidden. At lunck time we were spoiled ...
