Our best bulgarian holiday yet.

Advantages: On the beach, Extensive grounds, Fantastic food.
Disadvantages: could have better outside evening entertainment.

...but rather quiet. Then we found Sunny Beach and the difference is unbelievable. The first year we stayed at The Riu Helios, then The Sunny Dreams Apartments. Both of these are very good quality for money.but then the best ,The Majestic Hotel. Having seen this hotel being built we were eager to try it out and believe me we were not disappointed with what we found. The moment you see it from the beach you will think it would not look out of place in ...
...on, brilliant. The majestic is everything we wanted in a hotel, we have booked again for 2009 and are set to book again for 2010 for the World Cup. If you want a good holiday with an outstanding hotel then go to The Majestic in Sunny Beach and enjoy. ...

Bulgaria - Sooner rather than Later

Advantages: cheap, interesting
Disadvantages: terrible coffee

We decided to visit Bulgaria this year as it looked cheap, interesting culturally and likely to still be warm in October when we had to travel.Never having been to a Balkan country before it seemed like a good choice. We decided to base ourselves on the Black Sea coast and found a nice spa hotel in Nessebar (prefering to stay somewhere away from the crowds in Sunny Beach) The Nessebar Palace Hotel is a Bulgarian 5 star hotel about a mile from the ...
...a super-king size bed, large bathroom,safe,mini-bar and balcony. However, after a couple of nights we had to ask to be moved because our room looked out over the road and was quite noisy. It was also north facing and did not benefit from the lovely sunshine in the afternoon. The second room was much better, looking out over the pool and the sea which was always remarkably blue and twinkly. This hotel has a spa centre, indoor and outdoor pools, shops, hairdresser, ...

Hotel Hawaii & Nessabur, Bulgaria

Advantages: Cheap, handy, pleasent and affordable.
Disadvantages: The flight

Just returned from a holiday in Nessabur, Bulgaria, staying at the Hotel Hawaii in a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel building from the outside looked like any other block from communist days BUT our room on the 13th floor was lovely, a little basic but very spacious and looked like it had only just been upgraded. Our fridge was missing and so were chairs to sit on! A request at the reception saw a couple of chairs and a fridge delivered. The ...
...day, new towels at least twice a week, linen also changed. The power shower in its own cubicle with loads of hot water was a first! The breakfast was one of the best we have had for many years. Hot and cold buffet, tea, coffee, fruit. Admittably if you arrived at the last knockings say 9.50 when they stopped serving at 10am they did not replenish stocks but before that it was excellent. The staff were super, pleasant, helpful and cheerful. Particularly ...

Sofia so good!

Advantages: Not too busy, good value for money, green
Disadvantages: Not many "attractions", not much for children

Our visit to Sofia didn't get off to an auspicious start. The other half spent the eve of the trip throwing up in the only bathroom of a hostel in Veliko Tarnovo and we would have stayed there another day to permit his recuperation had we not already reserved and paid for our tickets to the capital. By the following day I was off my food and the day after that I was availing myself of the bathroom facilities, making sure I got my moneys worth! I ...
...ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES Sofia is a rather compact city so, while it has trams and a short underground line, weekend visitors should be able to get to most places on foot. Those venturing out of town - perhaps to Mount Vitosha - will find the buses cheap and reliable. For other places in the Sofia region like Rila Monastery, there are plenty of companies offering excursions as well as the standard bus services. Sofia does have lots of museums ...

Bansko Review

Advantages: Great hotel, nice people, good runs, cheap.
Disadvantages: Food isn't fantastic, long wait for gondola if not out early enough.

Landed in Bansko on 24/01/09. Had a fantastic holiday! Excellent conditions, fantastic hotel (hotel Lion), nice people. Bansko is still under development so the town is still a bit of a building site. This didn't bother us as we were there to snowboard, not to admire the views from the hotel window. When we arrived it was raining in the town so we were quite concerned about the conditions. We soon figured out that when it was raining lower down it ...
...too many people moaning about Bansko for petty reasons so I want to put the record straight. The only cons I think are worth mentioning are: 1. Get out early for the gondola or you could be in for a long wait 2. Some of the food isn't that great although found some excellent restaurants though and very well priced. Bansko is a great resort and will only get better. If you're one of these people who complains about everything and feels like the ...
