The atmosphere at Bulldog places was generally relaxed the staff were very helpful coming to the table and taking orders and making sure you had everything that you needed. The drinks were very reasonably priced 4.5 NGL ffor a juice. The seats were reasonably comfortable which is one of the main things apart from atmosphere that I look for in a coffee shop. They had said it was run by a chain who have coffee shops across Amsterdam including La Canna on e of my personal favourites and Grasshopper, which is one, visited by many English tourists. Bulldog place is situated on Leidseplein that makes the outside tables very good for sitting and people and watching as well as generally observing the world go by over a drink and joint.

The drinks were very reasonably priced 4.5 NGL ffor a juice. The seats were reasonably comfortable which is one of the main things apart from atmosphere that I look for in a coffee shop. We were still there enjoying the place when it turned 3 o’clock and they kicked every-one out. Judging by the number of people who were still there I think that they should decide to stay open until 5am, because there was so much going on in the Leidseplein that I’m sure they would get the custom.
The Bulldog Palace Leidseplein 17 1017 PS Amsterdam
Advantages: Location - always something happening just outside Disadvantages: Not too much seating in the coffee shop
Having now visited The Bulldog on every trip to Amsterdam I can honestly say it is a must for all who are looking for either a quiet coffee in the day or an excellent night out in the city.
There are three Bulldog bars in Amsterdam, this particular one being right in the centre of Leidesplein, the most popular area for all night life in Amsterdam with numerous pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants. It's about a 20 minute walk or a short tram ride from ... ...enter, you will find the Bulldog has two entrances - downstairs to the coffee shop and upstairs to the bar/night club area. They also have an internet lounge and a shop selling all types of Bulldog memorabilia at fairly reasonable prices, bearing in mind that Amsterdam is not a cheap place.
The bar upstairs is usually packed to the hilt, and although there are bouncers on the door, which is unusual for most of the pubs in this area, the atmosphere ...

Advantages: Good location Disadvantages: Dark and sometimes smokey
The Doors is what I would call an old style Coffeeshop (by Coffeeshop I mean a place you can smoke a joint in peace), a bit small, with a sort of dark interior. Not at all like the BulldogPalace or maybe LaCanna.By that I dont mean its crap, like a lot of places it has a theme and plays it well. The furniture is very low slung, benches and little stools that look like they are made by art students from scrap metal.
There is extensive use of metal plating that gives the place a MadMax meets the 70's sort of feel. There is plenty of 70's posters and such to look at, all adding to the Atmos.
Like anywhere in Amsterdam the staff speak English and are friendly. The prices are average and the selection is more or less the same as any other Coffeeshop.Nothing on the menu (the drugs list as they dont serve food) jumped out at me, they ...
