So here we go my first proper op for the site. Last night on my way home I decided I was rather hungry and with the wealth of takeaways in the area I decided to pop into Burger King and get some food. Normally I’d get myself our of the car but decided last night that there would be a huge queue inside the shop so used the drive through, but I’ll get to all that later on.
Right the BK I’m talking about is the one in Wokingham, it is located on the Carnival Pool complex about 3 minutes walk from the Station and about 4 or 5 from the main shops. It’s not hard to miss with the big BK sign and also a smaller sign on both boards advertising what is in that area.
First Impression *************
When you come towards Burger King there is a small Car park in front of the shop and also the entrance to the drive thru. Also round the back if you drive a little bit further there is an overflow car park, both of which are free. The building is your typical design with Glass windows all around the seating area.
Layout ******
To be honest it’s pretty much like every other Burger King. You walk through the seated area towards the main counter. There are probably 15 – 20 tables in there and 4 or 5 outside the building. The queue area is rather small and can often be backed up half way through the building. Toilets are on the premises to the left hand side of the counter.
Food *****
This had probably got to be the main part of Burger Kings service to be honest, It doesn’t really matter to me how well laid out the tables and chairs are. The main food they do are Burgers, Your Whopper’s, Quarter Pounders and my personal favourite the Bacon double Cheeseburger. They also do a number of chicken meals, like the Chicken Royale and the newly introduced Chicken strips.
All the burgers on their own cost around about £2 - £3 quid each but can be bought as part of a meal with a medium drink and fries for between £4 and £5. The meal can also be made bigger by either going Large – 30p more or Super Sizing for 50p more, which basically means you get a bigger portion of chips and a bigger drink.
All the food tastes pretty much as you would expect, it’s all heated up in the microwave for a few seconds and is exactly what its meant to be fast food. I do find BK a lot nicer than Mcdonald’s although, I find KFC nicer still but we don’t have one local to us. The chips are always nice and the drinks are what you’d get in a can with a touch more water added to it.
Drink *****
The drinks available are the usual Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Fanta. And are available in a medium, large or super size and the price varies from about 90p up to bout £1.30 or there abouts.
I seem to remember you used to be able to get donuts or apple pies, and various other types of deserts but it’s not something I normally buy. Again they do a Kids meal with a free toy, which is basically a smaller version of the main meals. Not too sure of the price as it isn’t something I buy a lot of or even any.
Drive Thru **********
So for those of you as lazy as me this Burger King has a Drive Thru. Basically its just what it says on the tin. You drive up, order your food at a microphone in a box next to a menu, get told to drive round to a certain window. When you get there you hand over your money and get given your food simple.
Conclusion *********
Well my meal was nice enough, the drive thru option proved only marginally quicker than actually walking into the shop. The foods alright, but really you get what you pay for and that’s exactly what I had expected. It’s not as cheap as McDonald’s but it’s a step up in quality. So cheers for reading, and if there are any improvements I can make then please let me know.
