Friendy and Efficent - so long as you book!
Review of Scottish Citylink Buses by Essan

Advantages: Punctual; friendly, helpful staff
Disadvantages: Adviseable to book in advance

Scottish Citylink operate most of the long distance coach routes in Scotland, many of which also double as local bus services with passengers allowed to purchase tickets on board. This can present a problem - more of which below. As far as comfort goes, a coach is a coach and these are no better or worse than any others. Most coaches have an onboard toilet and on longer routes there is usually at least one stop of 5-10 minutes for a toilet/smoke ...
...found them to be very punctual - perhaps surprising considering the vagarities of road traffic, although their timetables do take into account the likelihood of slightly longer journey times at busy periods of the day. Staff in my experience are mostly friendly and helpful. In most cases they're also happy to drop you off more or less where you request, even the middle of nowhere! Likewise, in rural areas, they will pick up more or less anywhere. ... Read review

Terravision -absolutley appalling
Review of Terravision by CHowarth

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Unreliable, no refunds, no communication, no contactable

...went on holidayt to use Terravision from Rome airport to the centre, but due to some dispute with the Roman authorities, which they must have known about at the time of my booking, the coaches were cancelled. It was very unclear and the staff were not much help. Therefore we had to get the train. I reported this as soon as I returned requesting a refund. After 4 emails I finally recieved a short acknowledgement. When I telephoned I was refused to ... Read review

STAGECOACH East Devon - You will need nerves!
Review of Stagecoach South Coast Buses by gunner_mel

Advantages: More easy access busses are introduced
Disadvantages: Punctuality, old busses w. difficult access, ticket prices

...than the train to use Stagecoach busses to get from A to B. Their punctuality is absolutely appalling. Many of times I have found myself (sometimes with at least one of my children) standing at the bus stop seemingly waiting for ever. The worst waiting time I have ever had to experience was 45 minutes at a bus stop highly pregnant with no shelter or any kind of seating available which is quite common in our area, I may add. I often wonder what time ...
...bus stop post. Stagecoach make it sometimes almost impossible to travel for disabled people and parents with very young children/babies. Although recently a lot of new level floor/easy access busses have been brought into service there is still a large number of old busses with several steps at the entry which are divided by a banister in the middle. Have you ever tried folding up a pram with a baby in your arm? And what about the shopping? And wheelchair ... Read review

Uno Due Tres .... Last
Review of Uno Bus Company by Tempus_Fugit

Advantages: connecting villages and towns in Hertforshire, cheap travel for students
Disadvantages: never on time, did I mention they are never one time?

...ticket. Step up UNO. UNO used to be called 'University Bus' because it was laid on mainly to get students to and from Hatfield's "University of Hertfordshire" to various towns around Hatfield. It was founded in 1992 and has become a part of the local bus landscape since then. It used to operate rickety old white busses with 'The University Bus' written on the side but over the past few years has undergone a major facelift. The colour scheme has ...
... Fares UNO run a number of different fares. You can pay the driver for the journey, either as a single or return journey. Depending on where you get on the bus, the fare will rise. There are day tickets for a flat rate of £4.00, a weekly bus pass for £16.00 and a monthly pass for £52.00, these prices are for adult tickets only. Where I live, there are at least 4 different fare stages, so depending on where you get on in town, the more expensive ... Read review

Lothian Buses
Review of Lothian Buses (LRT) by Anna-Plac

Advantages: Frequent
Disadvantages: Unpleasant Bus Drivers

I have to say that there are more LRT buses than First Group but I have found that the LRT drivers are the surliest and least helpful. My friend and I no longer rush to get on a bus which is already standing at the bus stop as the majority of the drivers will not let you get on. I sometimes wonder if they realise that their jobs are to pick up passengers?! We know they have a timetable to keep to, but if the bus hasn't pulled away from the bus ... Read review
