On a recent trip to Florida Tampa bay, we were browsing through the leaflets the hotels splash around the place, and we came across Busch gardens, this looked perfect as I was not a great roller coaster fan, although I can cope with tame rides, my husband loves the wild ones. So this place looked perfect it would suit us both.
Once we arrived at the park there was an extreme buzz surrounding the place, roller coasters were whooshing around and people were screaming and having a great time. I could not help but smile, the place was out of this world.
The park entry was a little pricey at 90 dollars each, but with the dollar being so good at the time is cost a little over 45 pounds each, which it not bad as you can have a day out for that in the UK. Oh and you can return to the park free of charge with a year. You will be issued your own personal Busch gardens credit card, for you to keep
so you can return with no trouble, unfortunately you cannot pass this one to friends as they take your finger print and this too is allocated to the card.
Once you have entered all your bags and things are check at the gate, for security as they are very tight on that, this is a good thing because at least you know you and the children will be safe, the only down side is that this can take some time.
Within the park there are rides both tame and extreme, shows, animal attractions and even a brew masters club, this is where you claim you free Budweiser beer, providing you are over 21 years of age.
RIDES AT BUSCH:
Gwazi is the mammoth double wooden roller coaster, there is a tiger coaster and a lion coaster and they race against each other, each are both different the tiger has a bobsled type of ride and the lion has more twist and loops, so you have to ride this coaster twice so you can try them both.
Sheikra is the newest steel roller coaster to Busch gardens, this was built in 2005, this steel coaster not only looks spectacular it travels at 70MPH, it is 200 feet up and has a pure 90degree vertical drop with loops and an underground tunnel. Since this was such a great hit for Busch they reconstructed it in 2007 and had it a floorless coaster. Sheikra is Florida's tallest roller coaster at the moment.
Kumba, has a 135 foot drop, with a plunge of 110 feet, within this coaster there are 360 degrees vertical loops. This is one on Busch's oldest coasters but it is well maintained.
Montu, is classed as one of the tallest and longest inverted coasters in the world, it has inverse loops and vertical loops, and this too is a floorless coaster so make sure you don't wear flip flops.
There are just the major attraction coaster at Busch but they do have many more, for example scorpion, cheetah chase, and water coasters like Stanley falls and tidal wave.
All the coasters have height restrictions, this is normally 54inch anyone smaller will be unable to ride them.
SHOWS AT BUSCH
Pirates 4d, 4-D special-effects technology with multi-sensory theatre effects to thrill guests of all ages. Guests experience sprays of water and a shipload of surprises during their adventure with the sea's most hapless band of pirates.
Friends forever, Humphrey the dragon, a dashing knight and a beautiful princess as they explore a world where flowers talk, mushrooms sing and new friends come in all shapes and sizes. This family-friendly show teaches kids of all ages that together, friends can accomplish anything.
Other shows include, katonga, mystic sheiks of morocco, and critter castaways. These shows can vary depending on the time you go. These were not our cup of tea but great if you want the 30-45 rest from the hustle and bustle.
What I loved about Busch is that it was not just a theme park but a zoo as well, they had bird gardens, edge of Africa which contained African wildlife, Serengeti Plain. All of which are insipid by animals, this is great for kids and adults.
Rhino rally: this was a great ride, you sit in a truck and they drive you through the African animals, rivers and lots more, it is quite something. And yes you do get to see real hippos, zebras and of course you get wet, TIP DONT SIT ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.
Busch gardens is open every day of the years excluding Christmas and New Year's Day.
So if you are ever in Florida this is well worth a visit, I have to admit you will not see everything in one day due to long timely queues, and there is so much to do, so if you are staying close by you may need to spend two days here,Remember this will not cost you twice as you can go as many time as you want with that ticket.
BUSCH GARDENS also partners with Orlando's major theme parks, SEA WORLD, DISCOVERY COVE (Dolphin swimming), WET & WILD (Swim park), Adventure Island, Aquatica, Islands of adventure, and Universal. So if you intend to visit a few parks you could save by buying hopper ticket which will enable you to go to them all.
It sounds thrilling, I would love to visit florida, but I might give the rides a miss, my mother loved them and was still going on thrilling rides in her 60's - lyn x
