As a family we have been to Butlins Minehead 4 times and due to go to butlins Bognor Reges next summer. We have been to a few other caravan parks in the past, and Butlins is definitely the best. In my opinion having all the entertainment, rides, the pool and the Skyline Pavilion included in your holiday is the best value for money. I find with other caravan parks you have to pay to go out on day trips every day to keep the kids entertained. Accommodation - we usually stay in silver and go half board. The silver accommodation is basic but adequate, if like us you use it as a base its more than enough. To be honest who wants to spend there holiday in there room. The rooms are clean and tidy. In your room you will find an ironing board, kettle with tea and coffee making facilities, bedding i.e duvet, pillows sheets and covers and a TV with some free view channels. Food (Half Board) - The Dinning hall is large with plenty of seating and highchairs. There are baby stations dotted around with microwaves, bottle warmers, bowls, spoons, and disposable bibs which is handy. Breakfast is served between 8:30 and 10 . There is a wide choice of cereals, toast ,kippers, fresh fruit, boiled eggs and of course the old british fry up lovely. The evening meal is served between 5 an 7 ( i think!) It is 3 courses, soup for starters, a wide choice from a traditional roast to Indian curry and sausages and chips for the kids, with ice cream or warm cakes for afters. The best thing about it is that you can eat as much or as little as you like, and if the kids don't like what they've got they can try something else. Park Facilities - The swimming pool is brilliant, with lots of different areas. The baby pool ideal for the younger ones, and rectangle more traditional pool for adults who just want to swim, and the main pool which has something for every one. The rapids are great fun, and the wave machine is quite strong so keep hold of the little ones. The slides look fun have never been on them myself but i think there is 3 or 4 different ones. Both of the fun fairs are excellent because the kids can go on as many times as they like and it doesn't cost you a penny. My children are 6, 4 and 1 and they love the characters and the skyline gang (a must see show) with bob the builder, angelina ballerina and pingo the must be at least one favorite for any child. There are so many other things to do around the park i would be here all day writing about it. Out Side The Park - Minehead town center is a lovely place to explore, the beach is clean although it can get a little windy some days but very nice to walk along and have some chips. The shops are your usual for a sea side town with boots and WHSmiths dotted in between. A trip on the West Somerset Railway is a must, my kids loved having a ride on a real steam train and it stops of in a few nice little villages along the way. Entertainment - There are so many different venues to chose from you are spoilt for choice. We tend to stick to the Skyline, but there is also center stage which offers magic shoes cartoon network game show and pantomimes but get the early for a seat! There is also reds which is surprisingly shows involving the red coats. We don't go in there much because it is aimed more at older children. The staff are friendly and helpful, you will find most of the non red coat staff to be foreign but they are friendly. The shops on site are pricey but you expect that. Tesco's is only a ten minute walk or 2 minute drive so it doesn't have to cost a fortune for bits and pieces. All in all i feel its perfect holiday for any family looking for value and fun all under 1 roof, i hope this has helped you to make a decision about your visit to Butlins.
