After going to butlins in the early 90s we were looking forward to returnig. maybe we have moved on but the place has seemed to have gone downhill.
We stayed in the midrange gallery accomodation which was scruffy, garishly decorated and showed little sign of being cleaned prior to our arrival.The plastic covered mattress was also a surprise.
The entertainment in the evening was very good and varied, the price of drinks was a disgrace. We noticed people who were bringing drinks for kids in with them, the following night night people were frisked as they went in which was a surprise for a so called family resort.
There seems to be a large problem with drunkeness we were woken in the early hours most morning with the most disgusting langauge being shoutd outside.This often seemed to be members of staff who we recognised the following day.
WE went self catering and i would reccomend the somerfield which is just outside to the overprice everydays onsite.
Resteraunts on site are also overprice and poor quality. the harry ramsdens is just awfull
THe funfair was just a collection of tired looking rides with some very bored operators. Swimming pool was first class.
So if you like swimming, good live entertainent.excessive drinking and bed wetting butlins could be for you.

Advantages: Great fun, lots to do, well themed, brilliant location, very atmospheric Disadvantages: Expensive on site, get fat from all the drinking and junk food.
