Butlins ahhh the typical family entertainment centre. Actually it has provided great fun for families right from the beginning and it still does now. Butlins in my opinion has improved greatly since those big white pavilions were built now you could go there for days an not get bored.
~~~Accommodation~~~ Right lets start with the very basic. You can go to Butlins in a touring caravan if the fancy takes you… or if you want to enjoy the fun but your budget isn’t all that big. This facility is available at Skegness but I’m not too sure about the other places. The rest of your accommodation is on the Butlins site itself close to the entertainment and the action. You can
chose to go half board or self catering. All apartments have their own kitchenette. The apartment that I stayed in was one of mid range value and lets just say you could live in in full time. It had two moderately sized bedrooms. And a kitchenette/ sitting room the bathroom was a good size as well and actually had a bath in. all accommodations are provided with Tv’s
~~~Skyline Pavilion~~~ This is quite new and has greatly improved Butlins. Inside are lots of shops, restaurants and entertainment places. But in the middle they have a stage where they often have shows like tightrope walking or fire eaters. There is always something on in the day and the early evening providing entertainment whatever the weather
~~~Bars and Restaurants~~~ There are loads to chose from so everyone will find something they like. From the regular burger king and harry rams dens. To things like pinewood studios which is a movie themed restaurant with a vairity of dishes. At night you have the Reds which provides evening entertainment. There are loads more to choose from
~~~Splash Waterworld~~~ This is my favourite swimming place that I’ve been to. Although I’m one of those people who doesn’t like going up and down doing lap after lap. So if you are a serious swimmer this may not be for you. It is like a theme park….. But in water. The complex is quite large and there is a part where you can just swim if you didn’t want to get involved in all the other fun activities. At skegness there are three main slides. Although you access the three from the same platform so the queues are quite long . Then there are other slides which are just simple ones. There are the river rapids where there is a current and it drags you round and round which is quite fun but hard to get out of. There is a kiddie section as well although I don’t know much about that. Then theres the famous master blaster where your put in a raft and you ride around a bit like an indoor log fume. There is also the space bowlthat is not for the faint hearted. You go down a chute and can reach speeds of 40mph then you come out into the inside of a sphere and go round and round getting lower untill you fall out of a hole at the bottom a bit like those 2 penny stands they have for charities. This was too extreme for me and made me feel quite ill at the end of it
~~~Shops and Services~~~ There are a number of shops on the complex I suppose this is so that you’re not inconvenienced . These include a supermarket which has everything you might want if you are self catering but it tends to be a bit pricey. There’s your typical gift shops, sweet shops and such. Then there’s facilities like cash machines, bookies, launderettes, babysitting service ( I have not tried this so I can’t really comment on it), hairdressers and medical centre
~~~Other attractions~~~ There are lots of other things to do. These include a small funfair. A bowling ally/ arcade. Pool tables, go karts, lots of sports facilities for you sporty out there and crazy golf.
In all I really enjoyed my stay here although my appartment was a bit dirty as soon as I arrived apart from that everything was fine. All the staff there seemed to be pleasant and helpful. It is priced reasonably for what you get but I wouldn’t say it was cheep . This is a good place to go either with your kids or with a group of mates
