OK, so when is one of those 'save the tokens £9.50 holidays' actually a £9.50 holiday? Probably never, once you add on entertainment passes, linen rental, e.t.c. We wanted half board and an upgrade to silver accomodation from standard, so we only have ourselves to blame I guess. The holiday at Minehead ended up being £50 a day for 2 adults and a 3 year old and we still saved £60 over the 4 night break. I have to say it was blooming good value for money!
The main good value was found in the half board side of things. Butlins have recently changed their restaurants. It used to be that you had to sit at a specific table everyday, waitress service and a choice of 3 or so options for each course. Now it is all self service, which at first you think 'what a cheek', well I did, and being 32 weeks pregnant was not something I was going to look forward to. However, you could e.t as much food as you wanted with so much choice, especially in the evening...pasta, chinese, salad bar, good old traditional english....food, food, food! Don't worry, I'll be going on weight watchers after the pregnancy!
With a 3 year old, Butlins is the place to be. He was in his element for the 5 days. Noddy's toyland had lots of rides suitable for his age. There was a soft play area with 3 levels in which he spent a few hours each day (giving mummy and daddy a bit of a break!). The massive swimming pool has boat flumes, wave machine, whirlpool and an area of water slides and play area for younger children. A large funfair is outside with go-kart racing and there are plenty of amusements plus a daily puppet show which is great to see. Virtually all the entertainment is child based by the red coats and they just love it (even the adults love it!)
Crazy golf, prize and cash bingo, hire shop (virtually hire anything!), prize stalls, laser games even a Burger King are all there. There are 3 children orientated entertainment stages and one adult based.
As you can gather, we really enjoyed our break. The only down side is that the apartment could be better decorated and cleaned. But it is only a base, and you will be spending most of your time in the complex. Just be prepared to make your own beds.....yep......you make your own bed up!
Happy holidays!!!!

We went there this summer and my 2 year old loved Noddy's toyland! Happy children = happy parents so we would recommend it too, but agree that the apartments need better cleaners!
