I have just returned from a weekend at Butlins and thought I would write a review on this...
After a recent holiday to majorca my partner and I felt a bit down and wanted something else to look forward to so we booked a last minute weekend break to Butlins....
At first we were a bit dubious as we know it would be very busy being school holidays and didn't think we would find as much as we would want to entertain us...
We booked online at a total cost of £190 for a silver room half board.
When we arrived we had about a two hour wait until we could check in but we were allowed on site. We spent this time walking around seeing what there was.
A lot of the entertainment is aimed at children but there is a Jumpin' Jaks, Hotshots and a Centre Stage bar with good line up of entertainment.. We had a Madness tribute on one of the nights in the Centre Stage and a Soul Sensation evening on another... these were both superb.
There is also the Skyline main stage which had Wrestling one evening, a stars in their eyes type show another and various other childrens entertainers during the earlier hours, there is Bar Rosso situated here which sells lovely cocktails at reasonable prices.
We were half board and breakfast consisted of Fruit juice, cereal and full cooked breakfast (meat or vegetarian) with unlimited toast, tea and coffee.
Evening meal was 3 courses which was either fruit juice or soup, main meal (with a variety of choices at least 2 were vegetarian) and dessert.
I am vegetarian and I found the choices really good. The food wasn't excellent but it certainly wasn't bad.
If you were not half board there a various places to eat out . There is a pizza restuarant, a Burger King, a Harry Ramsdens, there is the Ocean Drive Restaurant which is very reasonable. There is also a few cafe's situated throughout.
Other entertainment includes a smal fairground, go-karts, Mega Zone laser, numerous arcades, Gala Bingo, Archery, Pool,Table Tennis, Splashes Tropical Swimming Pool and outdoor fun pool, Bowling and lots more.
I would certainly recommend Butlins for a long weekend break.

Advantages: Great fun, lots to do, well themed, brilliant location, very atmospheric Disadvantages: Expensive on site, get fat from all the drinking and junk food.
