Ive been going to Butlins for around 5 years now.. And have always found it very very good value for money - the first time we went was cos it was just so cheap.
When we got there, we realised it was so different from what we thought it would be...Hi-De-Hi style!
Ive been to all three now.. So ill start with the worst: Minehead.. I really didnt like Minehead at all, We went around Christmas time, which i suppose didnt help at all! But the place is far too big, you cant, for example let a few 10 year old children to go off and have an hour on their own, as its just too big and they could be absolutly anywhere!
The next downfall was the entertainment/entertainment venues... I found reds, so little, and has no atmosphere what so ever - and the entertainment was just dire - considering it was Christmas! I cant rember much about it, as all i wanted was to get home to see the rest of my family. Has to be the worst Butlins holiday ive ever had! But, i have to say that the rooms were very clean!
Moving on, Bognor Regis, I found this pretty good - but the rooms where soooo poxy, we always stay standard accom at Skegness, and so booked the same at Bognor - but the standard of standard is so much lower at Bognor, so we had to pay for an upgrade to Silver - i cant remeber how much now. Which was so dirty, we had to go out to the supermarket and buy EXTRA cleaning products that we took just in case cos they were just like bleach, toilet cleaner, kitchen wipes - and we needed proper clearner!
Entertainment there i couldnt really knock, It was very much upto my Butlins entertainment expectations.
And now, Why i decided to write a review - Skegness. The best of the three - its the smallest, the most friendly, and the best entertainment.
Although, this year, it was quite dirty, we had a really great holiday. The entertainment was, not upto the normal standard - but was still very good. There was a few dancers/singers/entertianers, what ever they like to be called, that really shon - they were a plesure to watch almost every night!
But, its also great for the kids! They are bringing more and more things to entertian the kids now, even more or less dedicated "Reds" to children!

Advantages: Great fun, lots to do, well themed, brilliant location, very atmospheric Disadvantages: Expensive on site, get fat from all the drinking and junk food.
