I went to the adult Hot Summer Party weekend with a friend for three nights. I can't comment on the family holdays as I haven't been on one of these breaks, so this review is really just for people who are looking to go on one of Butlins' adult breaks.
For me, one of the best things about the holiday was that there were no children around. It was nice to be in the swimming pool and restaurant etc without running into kids and hearing screaming babies. The resort also had a great, lively atmosphere. During the day you can sit outside on the green, go swimming, use the arcades in the dome, or go for a walk along the beach, which we found was a fantastic cure for hangovers.
The food served in the restaurant wasn't amazing, but there was a wide variety to choose from, and you could eat as much as you wanted. There were also lots of fast food places which served pizzas and burgers etc.
The nightlife was also great, with a traditional pub, an Irish pub, a sports bar, a few nightclubs and live acts including celebrity DJs in Reds and Centerstage. There's something for everyone really, and the clubs were open until the early hours of the morning. We found the prices weren't too bad for drinks, and there was lots of variety.
We stayed in the cheapest accomodation available, so we weren't expecting much from our room, but it was worse than we expected. The room was tiny, consisting of two beds, a television and a kettle. There was a separate small bathroom. I particularly didn't like the fact the bed was right by the door and window, as people were constantly running across the balcony at night, often kncoking on doors which was a bit scary, especially considering one of the rooms below us actually had its windows smashed during our stay. However, as we weren't in the room for any substantial amount of time, toher than to sleep, this wasn't a huge criticism.
Overall, I would recommend the resort for the adult holidays, but I would strongly suggest paying the extra for the better accomodation. I'd say the resort would be great for a stag/hen party weekend, and is definitely more for young adults than the older crowd.

Advantages: Great fun, lots to do, well themed, brilliant location, very atmospheric Disadvantages: Expensive on site, get fat from all the drinking and junk food.
