I was debating whether or not to write a review about Byron's because the last thing in the world I'd want to do is publicise it. As it stands, it is a pretty smallish restaurant tucked neatly away on Devonshire Hill in Hampstead, not in the harsh lights of the West End. Its character is entirely Hampstead. It embodies class, warmth and sophistication without being the slightest bit affected. The staff are welcoming and helpful, the ambiance is classical ... ...And then there is the food- certainly the highpoint of the whole affair. I rarely get too excited about London eateries as they tend to care more about what the dish looks like than what it tastes like and the portions always tend towards the miniscule. (How many times have a spent over £80 at dinner with a grumbling stomach only to end the evening at a Burger King for a proper sized portion). Byron's provides ample portions- generous in comparison ...
