Can it be true that National Express who run the ill-fated Silverlink services now own c2c. Gordon Brown may have provided more money but will c2c drop to the level of Siverlink or will Silverlink improve? The London Southend line needs a better integration with other rail routes so National Express may show initiative by developing the systems they own and linking them. c2c may benefit from the takeover otherwise the misery line will return and prove an embarrassment for Teddy Taylor and William Hague. Privitisation must go alongside prudent yet dynamic leadership. Let us see how National Express cope with the new venture. It could make them or break them. By way of an update the merger did not go through and C2C remains isolated from the rest of the rail network. Hopefully the new transport policy may improve the situation.

I would recommend a joined up ticketing service.
Recently when purchasing a return ticket to Oxford from Westcliff station I but a network ticket for myself but I was not allowed to buy one for my wife. My wife works in London and has a season ticket to cover up to Zone 6. The ticket clerk was not willing to issue a ticket for the remainder of the journey. She told me to get a ticket from an underground station which seemed strange since you cannot normally purchase network card returns from such stations.
We resolved the problem by travelling to Feltham then purchasing a return ticket from that station.
The ticket inspector was amazed that the clerk did not refer to a book of fares that could be entered into the ticket machine to produce the correct ticket.
