OK first of all I will be honest in saying I work for c2c and I wish I would of wrote this review sooner as my opinion has not been altered and I'm not in any way biased and will be upfront about things. I do hope no one thinks I'm saying it for the sake I work for it but this is just an honest opinion of it, and yes, there are still plenty of disadvantages.
The first thing about c2c is they are reliable. We've been told that the company has topped the reliablity league for some time now and over 90% of trains are on time. I obviously use them to travel to work and I honestly can say I have only been delayed once by c2c which I think is reasonable. The trouble with c2c is when something delays then, it's usually problems with the overhead lines which can cause huge delays. From an outsider point of view and insider, I can see it is frustrating BUT it's not a minor problem when a fault happens overhead so it can take time. C2C seem to get a lot of suicides which can take ages and can be quite traumitizing for the people around. People will come up to you though and tell you that person has jumped is selfish, which I think is unfair, that person obviously had something wrong so for once, just find another route home and think about the poor people that witnessed that. I think the reliability is up to standard to be honest and I think is far better than the other ways to reachFenchurch Street via the circle and district line on the Underground.
C2C trains are comfortable. There is a lot of leg room, the seats are soft, they are cleaned out regularly and there is air conditioning on board for the warm summers. It's a smooth train too, so it's easy enough to fall asleep on!
The customer service is good. I won't lie though, I've seen other members of staff sometimes not keeping their cool and not being as helpful as they should be but I can honestly say that most the staff are helpful. They will help you book long distance journeys, wil have the correct stock avaliable in the office such as two for one london offers, oyster forms, etc and they help you if you have any disabled members of family use the lift or accompany you up the stairs if your not 100%. Some customers though and this doesn't just go for here, anyone who works in customer services will know that these clerks aren't mind readers. You can't just put your money on the table and expect them to know what you want!
Downside to c2c is they are so pricey. Yes, they are fast, consistant and comfortable but a return trip from Fenchurch Street to Southend in the rush hour is 12.30! Considering it doesn't really take THAT long to get to Southend Central it's a bit of a rip off. They do some brilliant weekend fares but weekdays are awful for fares. I always wonder how people manage to afford the prices. :S Another downside, some of the stations are not kept well. It's probably because of the areas but some bad stations are Purfleet. Grays, Chafford Hundred and generally most of the stations on the Tilbury loop are usually quite messy and vandalised. Having said that, Fenchurch Street, Upminster, Basildon are really well kept stations. More attention needs to be paid to that Tilbury loop.
Overall, they defintely have improved since LTS but MORE needs to be made!
