CO2 Bar

Advantages: Very trendy and funky - the music's fab.
Disadvantages: It can get rather crowded down there and the metal steps can be lethal!!

...(Wednesdays)!!] ******************** The CO2 Bar is situated under the Bobby Browns Nightclub. It is by the canal, just off Broad Street in Birmingham. Being a dedicated student of Birmingham University, I have visited this groovy litte place a number of times on student nights... I have to say that I am a big fan!! The actual bar isnt that big, but has a small dance area and enough ledges to prop yourself up on after a few too many Vodballs. ...

On Wednesday (student night)it is usually quite funky, with some dance hits thrown in. There are also a few TV screens dotted about showing music videos etc. to keep you entertained. ...There is ONLY one place to be on Wednesday nights in Brummy-Bobby Browns! At Birmingham Uni, this is THE best night out - everyone knows it, and the tickets sell out the Friday before each and every week. It's that good. Bobbys is essentially five rooms, all linked together by small corridors that are maybe too small, but make the place much more friendly. The first room as you enter had cheesy music, so you'd best get a pint and move on, up the stairs to the next bar. The bar is on a different level and is more of a pass-through than an actual room. On from there is a much larger dancefloor and bar with club anthems. There are also stairs down to the plush CO2 Bar which is beautiful - all glass and silver. ...of staff, seating people, cleaning tables, refilling the buffet, serving duck and just generally running around like blue-arsed flies. All the staff I spoke to seemed friendly and any empty plates were cleared from our table within a reasonable amount of time. The Food ******** They offer around 70 dishes in the evening (5.30pm to 11.30pm) for £7.99 and 50 dishes during the day (12pm to 5.30pm) for £4.99. A full menu of all the dishes offered can be found on the website www.bigwok.co.uk. (under 2’s go free, LOL!) There is a salad bar in the corner consisting of a number of fresh salad items and chicken, I didn’t try the salad but it all looked nice and fresh. It is a reasonable sized long purple room, with windows all along the right hand side of the building, looking out to sea. For band/gig nights there are tables and chairs along this side as well. The bar runs virtually the whole length of the room, down the left hand wall. (On the wall above it is the word 'CONCORDE' in large letters!!) It is a large bar, with friendly polite staff, and a reasonably priced selection of drinks. Stella and Heineken on draught, as well as Strongbow, Guiness Extra Cold and Boddingtons. With a range of bottle'd beers and alcopops that are always changing. About three gigs every month are sponsored/supported by Jagermeister, and on these nights it's only a pound a shot!!
