Advantages: Possibly the most beautiful city on earth Disadvantages: High tides in autum and perhaps too many tourists in summer months
...word. FISH. A stay in Venice is not complete without eating copious amounts of fish. If your cooking yourself, fish markets around the Rialto Bridge are the place to go. Some of the fish is still alive when you buy it, its that fresh(!) A word of warning perhaps on shellfish. I would stear clear of mussles, the water around Venice is not particularly clean, and it all ends up inside the mussles. I think they are even often referred to as the cleaners of the laguna. However clams, Capesante, Cappoce and various other unusual looking shell fish are both cheap and delicious. If you can make your way to Campo St. Barnaba, there is a floating vegetable and fish stall. Cheap and amazing.
In terms of what dishes to eat, Chichetti are a venitian speciality. Little bits and pieces of fried fish, squid meats and vegetables. Tiny slices of polenta...

Advantages: Romantic Destination for City break Disadvantages: Can be Cold in Winter, as surrounded by water, Can be Smelly in summer.
...The HotelCa' Amadi was the perfect choice to take my girlfriend to propose to her. As she was already expecting me to do it, i thought that I would do the romantic thing and take her somewhere special I decided on Italy & Venice.

Using a website Veniceby.com I found a hotel that I thought would be way off my budget, the HotelCa' Amadi. I knew I had made the right decision when my now fiancee burst out crying in amazement as we entered the suite I had been upgraded to.
The hotelCa' Amadi offered an upgrade...

Advantages: The decor, the breakfast, the friendly staff, Disadvantages: Some rooms are a little on the small side, but this was no big inconvenience
...I booked a standard double room in the Ca' Dei Conti hotel (on expedia) for 3 nights in early January 2008, as a romantic break for my boyfriend and I. We fell in love with the place!.
The hotel is incredibly easy to find by public water bus, you just get off at the San Zaccaria stop and follow the directions given on the hotel website. It's situated only a few minutes walk from St. Marks Square, but is incredibly quiet and secluded, so there is no noise or disturbances.
The hotel itself is incredibly beautiful, as you walk over the little private bridge and enter into the hotel lobby, you're struck by just how beautiful this little hotel is. Checking in is very easy and the staff are friendly and speak fluent English. You are also given a map of Venice on arrival and the receptionist will circle all the main points of interest...
