...Cabo Frio is two hours driving from Rio and the main attraction is that is a coast little fisherman village. During the summer holidays is where most of the people that comes from Rio is going to be, and the best time is when is not holiday, than you can appreciate the place and the beauty.You can rent a car and go and visit the dunes, or go to the next village to visit Arraial do Cabo, that is smaller than Cabo Frio, but has lots of islands and you can go renting a fisherboat, nothing better than them to show you everything. Advantages: The Spanish weather in the summer, I presume
Disadvantages: Where do I start?

...For the first time we decided to take a holiday in the middle of February. We've heard Spain can be OK in the winter, so we gave it a go. We stayed in La Mata, just outside Torrevieja. As we arrived from Alicante airport (about 20 minutes away) The rain did not stop pouring down, which creates a problem in Spain as the roads do not appear to drain as in the UK. This was to be the story for much of the week, it summed up the holiday really. The first day or two were spent around La Mata, which appeared to have a lovely beach, and our apartment was nice, although there was a distinct lack of bars, restaurants etc, apart from a very nice Irish bar on the front, so we ended up eating indoors and cooking ourselves. ...I traveled with my girlfriend to Cabo from Sept. 23-30 to celebrate my big 4-0. After doing alot of research, I decided on this baby and overall, I have no regrets. I toured some of the other hotels nearby and I knew I made the right decision. The only negative we encountered was the daily drilling near the pool (they were upgrading the tiles around the pool area). They started drilling each morning at 10am and continued for several hours - it was impossible to sit on our balcony or lay by the pool and relax. Fortunately, the sister hotel is right next door and we enjoyed laying by their quiet pool. I noticed that other nearby hotels were also doing maintenance on their properties so each hotel had their own little quirks. We talked to the manager about the annoying drilling and all he could say was "sorry". And it didn't seem sincere... Read review
