Ok, tajines and couscous are delicious, but, after several days of having these, me and my boyfriend needed something else, something... Italian and cheesy . So, we saught out Cafe Arabe, a restaurant (and inn) hidden within the medina. WOW. This place is COOL. Gorgeous. Enchanting. With both covered patio-type seating, a swanky little bar, indoor seating and delicious drinks upon the terrace with a view of Marrakesh you'll love. I did great pictures of this place. Owned by Italians, ( the owner is from Milano and the manager from Reggio Emilia, the city of the Parmesancheese, tortellini) you'll find a varied selection of traditional Moroccan and Italin offerings on the menu. As well as a nice wine list. A blend of funky, artsy decor and good ambient music.
We began with an unusual appetizer of baked ham, mushrooms and cheese. Emphasis on the cheese. My boyfriend had rigatoni quattro formaggi and I had gnocchi al pesto, each around 100 dirhams. Dinner comes with a basket of assorted breads flavored with various herbs and spices. Price per person includes having wine. I eat a great Tiramisù and my boyfriend a dessert that I never had haerd, called Pavlova: super.
The manager, Mr Paolo, told us, that the Cafe has 2 double rooms and a minisuite. We asked him the see the rooms. No problems, in this way we could shoot some photos. I think it's a good idea to sleep in a riad for enjoy the real Morocco, that's not possible in a 5 stars hotel :-( ....next time
The Sunday Moroccan-international brunch tasts optimal. It's a great buffet, for 200 DHS. It's not expansive, but unfortunatly it comes suspended in July and August because it is too warm and the buffet it comes made in the patio.
If you want, they can do special menus for groups or private parties. You send and email, and Mr Paolo will let you know.
They have a summer menù: 2 kinds of pasta fredda, salads, carpaccio and others, I don't remenber everything, sorry.
I'm Italian, and I had a help in the first part of my opinion...but not in the second part :-(
Advantages: perfect for families, low prices, clean Disadvantages: no alkohol
are the stairs.
The menù is rich. You can find:
- salt or sweet crepes
- milkshakes
- sandwiches with chips
- pizza
- pasta
- salads
- Moroccain dishes
- non alcoholic cocktails, and belive me their mojito is great.
....the prices??? Very very low....belive me.
Another nice thing concerning this place, it that it get used from Moroccain artist. You will have a drink in an art gallery. Every few months the artist will be changed, for give to more artist possible the way to show their paintings. I think it's a good idea, it's somethings different. I find this place on the way to the CafeArabe.
If you want, there is the possibility to do private parties.

A few months ago i went to nice on a school trip in order to improve my french for my up and coming gcse.
I expected it to be all learning and really quite boring but i was to be pleasantly suprised.
When i got there i was immediatly struck by the warm wheather which i was certainly not used to in february being a brit myself.
when i got there i was allowed to wander around the town. The thing that hit me or at least where i was staying was the large arab community there with their being many arabcafes and bars dotted around all over my part of the city at least.
The thing i liked about nice was that it wasent over commercialised as is often the case with many urban enviroments these days.
Nice is also set in a lovely part of the world being very near to Italy and only half an hours train ride from Monaco.
In conclusion if ...

Godstone in Surrey near where we live. Took the magic away somehow. We were served a four course lunch, of salad, Tagine, couscous and fresh fruit. It was extremely cold up there, and we could see snow on the next mountain. It was a very pretty place though, and on the journey back which takes about an hour and a half, we could see women washing clothes in the streams, and tending to their animals. Very authentic.
Each night we ate in the CafeArabe, as it does other food apart from Tagines, and it was quite a pleasant experience. On our last night however, as it was my birthday, we asked Ishmail to recommend somewhere. An so we found ourselves in a Restaurant called Bo Zin out of the city. It is a moroccan take on Thai food, and I hated every minute of it. The food was fine, the decor was lovely, however the service was not. It had ...
