Manufacturer's product description
The tiny dining room is nice enough, but the garden courtyard of this small, unpretentious restaurant is a shady haven from the steady flow of tourists climbing the hill. A limited blackboard menu includes a simple fixed-price meal, including tartes and salads embellishing one or two hearty meat dishes: beef daube (stew), or caillette aux herbes (pork meat loaf) served hot or cold. It's also worth coming for afternoon tea, as the cakes and pastries are homemade and delicious.
...A trip to Provence is incomplete without a visit to its capital, Aix.
I love Cours Mirabeau, with its pavement lined with brasseries.
In summer it has a very enjoyable athmosphere.
I remember going to a cafe in the late afternoon, ordering a slice of almond cake, which is a local speciality, and just sitting down and relaxing watching the world passing by.
Aix was founded by the Romans and in the middle age was a very important university.
Today, there is still a large part of the populations who are students, and this contributes to a merry ambience.
You can visit some Romans ruins.
Personally, I would advice you going there for 2-3 days and exploring Provence being based in Aix.
The nearest airport is Marseille....

Advantages: Unique atmosphere Disadvantages: certain seedy areas
...I lived in Marseille for a couple of years in the centre and it was quite an experience! Cannot recommend it enough for the endless sunshine, beach with skateparks and great cafes, long avenues lined with trees for nice walks/skates and most of all the local day trips into the "Calanques" the pristine white cliffs, pines and blue sea to the East as well as the proximity of the Riviera, Aix-en-Provence and the constant day and night hustle and bustle of the place. The mainly North African markets (can't remember the name of the big one, maybe Capucines?) is absolutely amazing with the best fruit and veg selection I have ever seen. The downsides were the general seediness of some of the areas which I were pretty scary at night and the endless slums in the suburds....

Advantages: Everything - I love France Disadvantages: Absolutely None
...We have just returned from our annual holiday in France. We spent a week in a villa just outside the village of Cotignac (just over an hours drive from Nice Airport). The villa was extremely comfortable and in a secluded area and had its own swimming pool. The village of Cotignac was beautiful. The main street had restaurants and cafes the full length of the street on both sides - something for everyones taste and pocket. The town also has a small supermarket and a petrol station, baker, butcher, various gift shops etc. The market on a Tuesday was of a very high standard as are most french markets. People are friendly. Scenery is breath taking. Around this area there are many small towns and villages which are well worth a visit....

We had this machine about a year. Like the previous review, I agree it makes a pretty good cup of coffee - particularly a good crema and in just a few minutes - . You will definitely need to preheat the filter holder before making coffee otherwise it... more
