- The Coffee culture - Anyone fancy a coffee? It is certainly one of lifes better inventions the coffee bean. It is understandable that the coffee culture has created a frenzy amongst normally sane people who would of normally got up earlier and made themselves a coffee at home about 10 years ago. Instead we troll through heavy morning traffic. Stumble into a Cafe Nero and ask for a weird and wonderful coffee blend with caramel coating syrup; before going to work. It is official the coffee culture has taken control and Cafe Nero has made big leaps and bounds in profits over the last few years.. as have most of the coffee chains in UK; and Nero is no exception.
-The House of Nero- Cafe Nero's in-house design has emulated a stylised coffee shop that would not feel out of place even in the outer Mongolian. It is so unoffensive. The smoking rooms have now disappeared which is a great thing and now they promote pannini's as a food option even if lunch is 3 hours away. Nero is the coffee experts paradise, the blends are a lot more exquisite and depending on the mood I'm always drawn to Nero around 6pm; I suppose that is when my taste-buds wake-up. Does this mean I'm wanting a better tasting coffee? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Nero has a standard stand and wait human escalor that seems to work, and the staff always seem to cope with customer orders very well. I've never had to wait longer than 3 minutes for a latte; pretty good service. I've even been in the situation when conducting a meeting with a couple of colleagues that coffee's are brought to you directly to the comfy settee's laiden with laptops. Service is very good.
-Hero @ Nero - work ethic- Nero's apprentice start-up personel is also impressive. They usually are wearing different corporate tops identifying them to you they are actually new and therefore be more lenient to them if some latte turns up with a completely different pastry slice than you ordered. Again, I've only had great service even from the start-up coffee shop novices. I wish I had some dozy story to tell but I haven't only the fact that all Nero workers are hero's; professionism at it's highest.
- Award system - Oh yes don't forget your coffee card so a stamp is given for each mug you have; if you ever reach the 10 cups of coffee, you will have a free one. This award system isn't offered to you by Starbucks so that is in itself a good insentive to try out Nero's coffee, and grab those freebies.
On a serious note now, I can remember small coffee houses that were run by (2) people at a max.. They have been frozen out by established coffee shop giants; without being too morbid.. it is a real pity that these establishments have been lost on such a huge scale. The incredible thing is that Cafe Nero and Co are pushing up the prices of coffee at an alarming rate, so much that now people who want their daily infusion pay by credit card, which is crazy. It pains me to say.. but if you stopped going .. eeek.. and give up your daily latte - you would retire two years earlier!
It all sounds drastic especially as it's only a cup of coffee - a daily fix, thats all; but it is all getting quite serious. More blends are being introduced into the UK market and that is pushing up the price for all blends.
- Coffee price wars - A year ago, in the media coffee shops were declaring a price war on all there competitors, there were winners and losers and a few coffee houses have fallen out of 'flavour'. - Cambiboss Cafe was one, but now they seem to be making a little come-back. Nero on the other hand have prospered greatly and have opened up 155 outlets in within the last 22 months. These are smaller outlets than Mr, high and mighty Starbucks but still it is impressive; this underlines their intention of being kings of the coffee take-away market. It is notable that the design of the take-out mug is slightly more thought-out than their competitors. For one their lid is more customer friendly and apparently the coffee stays hotter for longer in their take-out container. try it out - Do the heat test.
Nero also doesn't promote the weird ingredience syndrome such as a caramel drizzle or a strawberry syrup as much as other coffee houses. This comes to the point of taste.. Nero is more affectionate to their coffee beans. which identifies that most experts would perfer the Nero blend more.
The price is a little more than I would like to pay, but it isn't extortionate, most choices are less than 3.00 GBP per fix for a regular size. It isn't surprising to state that Starbucks is the most expensive coffee source out there.
- What is your "daily latte factor"? - It may surprise you that after the Bank of England's 5% interest rate again today, in a means to delaying the inflation rate; isn't going to help your pocket. I am not preaching but it pays to be aware of your "daily latte factor". Popping into a coffee shop on the run each day can cost a small fortune over a year period --
Saving a bean means introducing the caffeine crunch to you. That when paying over 2.05 GBP over an average 224 day period is a lot of money that can be reduced. Over 450.00 GBP per year can be halved; even going to other coffee houses will save you a fortune. The reality is that by saving a measley 50p per infusion does add up and that is by just changing your coffee chain, within the year the truth is your bean saving will be over 110.00 GBP
I shouldn't be concerned about Nero's profits either. Prices generally are going to rise steadily, and we all need our fixes. Next for Nero's is a more established WiFi centre to follow suit with their competitors; they have them but not as readily available. On the result of this, it is making people stay in a Nero of up to 15 minutes less than their competitors, meaning they are drinking less coffee.
What makes Nero for me impressive is their apprentice scheme. More apprentices are staying on at Nero's and that means they are a happy workforce.
Thank you for the read - hope it was of help to you.
Advantages: Authentic Coffee, Clean, tidy premises, 1st class ambience and atmosphere Disadvantages: Food range is not so great value.
Caffe Nero is a leading Coffee store Retail Outlet located in many high street, town center, and Airport Lounge venues across England, wales and Scotland. The company sells, Coffee as its main product. Also they stock Tea, cold refreshments, panini sandwiches, cookies, crisps, Chocolates, cakes, and sweets.
What I find that makes cafe nero different to other coffee Retail Outlet's is almost a combination of excellent Coffee, and a high standard ... ...of the store is subtle and light. This allows people to read a newspaper, to socialise with friends, family, or to enjoy a relaxing cup of Coffee in relative peace and quiet. The atmosphere is what makes caffe nero a pleasant and welcoming place to visit.
The staff seem to be team organised. I have seen Table's been cleared, the counter at the Bar is spotless, bins are emptied, not a great deal of litter the toilet and Wash Rooms are fresh smelling ...

Caffè Nero is a relatively young company, from having 5 coffee bars in London in 1997, a further 130 coffee bars opened up in 38 towns across the UK in 2003. The chain is working actively to become entirely 'fair trade'.
I have been visiting Caffè Nero branches since 1998 (in and outside London) – so you could say I know my Mocha when I drink it!
Branches open early (around 7am on weekdays) allowing you to take advantage of a breakfast of coffee, ... ...From 12:00 Noon they start serving hot pasta dishes (eg> spinach & ricotta ravioli or spaghetti & meatballs) and grilled panninis (eg> Ham, cheese and sundried tomato or Lemon Chicken), as well as a selection of [toasted if preferred] sandwiches, salads and fresh soups, depending on the branch you visit. There is also a regular stand-by of chilled and shelf-stored desserts (such as: cheesecake(s), chocolate cake, carrot cake, apple torte, or mousse/trifles) ...

Advantages: Friendly staff, fast, efficient, nice decor, dont rush you out the door Disadvantages: a little pricey for some food
My first trip to a Caffe Nero was a few years ago in London. I popped in quickly and grabbed a capuccino with my mum. It was a cold winters morning, very early and we were on our way for a spot of shopping in Covent Garden. The coffee was just what we needed to wake up. Since that day I have become a regular visiter to caffe Nero's in London, and to several branches in Surrey where I live. The company was founded in 1997 and so is relatively new. ... ...past year and a half when they suddenly began to pop up in all the towns I frequently find myself in. Caffe Nero now claim to have 205 stores nationwide. After the first trip to cafe Nero, one of the things that brought me back was the fact that I could smoke inside whilst enjoying my coffee. This is no longer an issue as I no longer smoke, but still visit frequently. Having smokers in a coffee shop may put some people off, but ex-smokers are said ...

Advantages: Some interesting locations Disadvantages: Quality of coffee, panini and staff
The following is a verbatim copy of a recent email sent to Caffe Nero to which I neither received confirmation or response:
My wife and I have been great fans of Caffe Nero since you opened and would go out of our way to search out a bar however, this year we have been made increasingly aware of reduced quality and a questionable marketing direction.
i) the starbucking of the size of cups; gone is the original small cup previously used that are ... ...hot milk with a 'hint' of coffee. I know we can always ask for less milk but the previous smallest cup always gave great balance and flavour. Anyway, as a lot of the staff speak very limited English, explaining and getting what one wants is often difficult. I always have real trouble getting cappucino 'senza' chocolate, even when I ask repeatedly.
ii) either the quality of the coffee has changed (for the worse) or the gramme weight per serving has ...

Advantages: Best Coffee in London Disadvantages: Very Smokey and busy
I love coffee, it's my vice and when Cafe Nero opened on East cheap a few years ago I popped in one morning (it opens at 7am) and bought a steamy rich intense flavoured latte I was hooked.
Its several years later and I now work near High Street Kensington.
Here the Nero branch is a funny shaped glass fronted building standing oddly next to a giant Boots.
Once inside you need a minute to get accustomed to the Smokey atmosphere and join the queue ... ...and they do all the usual, cappuccino, lattes. Espressos as well as a great range of fruit smoothies and iced coffee drinks. One of the best things about Nero's is their loyalty card. Every time you buy a coffee you get a little red stamp (changed recently from Green, so if you have green stamps on your card you might want to get them changed over ASAP). Once you have nine stamps you get a free coffee!
This is great for me as I spend a small fortune ...

. Once I ordered my usual tea but when it came it was clearly something different, the woman was so nice about it, very apologetic and replaced it instantly. That sort of service is worth paying a little bit extra for I think. If you want to pay less, go to the chain store CaféNero across the road, but Black Cherry is not that sort of place at all.
