London`s nightlife has taken a big turn in the last five or so years, the old cliché that London has nothing to offer after 11.00pm is no longer true. For years most European cities such as Madrid, Paris, and Rome have been raving and soaking up the nightlife until the early hours of the morning. ~ I`m glad to say that London has finally caught up and you can now revel all night if you want to. Who needs to hear the sound of a ringing bell at 11.00pm ~ to me that was always a way of saying its time to go home and sleep or that London?s nightlife was coming to an end. That is no longer an issue as you will find pubs and wine bars close as late as 3.00am during weekdays and nightclubs that once closed between 2.00 and 3.00 am are now closing around 7.00am and some even close at 10.00am.
For those of you who haven`t been to London in the last five or so years then you will not recognize the new London. Central London (Soho, Picadilly, Shaftsbury avenue, Leicester Sq, Tottenham Ct Rd, Oxford Circus etc) is buzzing and the atmosphere is very European ~ the streets are vibrant & exciting ~ packed out pubs, cinemas, nightclubs, restaurants, shows, theatres and wine bars, not just the weekends but also weekdays. London offers diversity & its nightlife is right up there with the other
top European cities, attracting more & more people to its trendy & vibrant streets, where you can enjoy and soak up atmosphere until the early hours of the morning.
One of the more exclusive venues in central London is Café De Paris ~ this venue has been around since 1924 & is still rocking in 2002. Having survived the War & all the changes that came with it, Café De Paris has an amazing & glitzy history ~ playing host to lots of powerful & important celebrities, politicians, performers & even royalty ~ it was the place to be seen.
Have things changed since then 2002? ~ Nope
Café de Paris still continues to attract famous celebrities, super models, pop stars & it is definitely one of London`s well-established nightspots.
Do you have to be famous to get into Café De Paris? ~ Nope
Anyone can visit this exclusive nightclub, which is based in Piccadilly central London & even though it is very celebrity orientated it is still open to the general public.
What are my chances of getting in?
If you decide to queue up then your chances of getting into this nightclub are very slim indeed. Nine times out of ten you will find yourself standing in a queue for couple of hours & then turned away. However, the chances of getting into Café De Paris will also depend on which day of the week you plan to go ~ some days are more on demand than others E.g. ~ At Café De Paris Monday & Wednesday nights are the best nights of the week ~ lively atmosphere & better DJ`s hence better music than say Thursday & Saturday nights. Therefore it can be risky just turning up on one of the popular days without having a ticket or a V.I.P invite. If you are turned away then this normally spells two things:
1)~ The venue can no longer hold anymore people & so even if you`ve been waiting in the queue for two hours you will not be allowed in unless you have a ticket or your on someone`s V.I.P guest list.
2)~ V.I.P guest list (normally the celebrity orientated & friends) get preference over people who are queuing up, eventually filling up the venue & leaving you standing outside.
Your best bet is to get hold of a ticket in advance, either by booking at www.cafedeparis.com or by picking up a leaflet or flyer from the people that distribute them on the streets (mainly Leicester Sq) ~ you will find that at times they offer free tickets/concessions in order to promote certain gigs or any party/dance events they will be holding. If you can get hold of one of these flyers then do so, definitely worth it & will save you all that hassle from queuing up. Your other option would be to get yourself on someone`s guest list. I`m lucky & fortunate enough that my best friend is a model for Models One ~ she turns up at the door & the bouncers let her in ~ no questions asked. My friend has access to V.I.P rooms & she can put up to five people on the V.I.P guest list.
Lucky me I get a FREEBIE :o)
Although I have to admit I sometimes think the whole nightclub scene is so unfair for the ravers who are queuing up for hours & eventually get turned away. I personally would not attempt to go to a nightclub in London unless I`m on someone`s guest list or have a ticket in advance. I for one have been turned away at the door & it`s not a nice feeling, especially after waiting a good hour or two in the cold.
What`s the atmosphere like?
I have been to Café De Paris quite a few times now & there is no doubt that the best night out is on a Wednesday ~ it`s the main attraction of the week and offers a great club atmosphere you won`t forget (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays is live cabaret so if your into that check it out). This popular venue is absolutely rocking, a great crowd that brings a lively & bubbly ambiance to the club ~ there is never any trouble & you will feel at ease & relaxed when raving until the early hours of the morning. The age group is normally between 25-40.
What`s the nightclub like?
The club itself is pretty big & posh looking, from the moment you walk in everything around you spells class ~ one main dance floor dominates the centre of the club as well as two podiums & a stage. The main dance floor is pretty big & can hold quite a lot of people, although you will find that the podiums & the stage are a popular dance area. You also have a DJ booth along with restaurant tables surrounding the entire dance floor ~ the tables are normally reserved by V.I.P guests ~ a great seating area to have a drink & enjoy the music.
There is also an upstairs to Café De Paris (known as the Mezzanine Area), which provides a great panoramic view of the whole club as it overlooks the dance floor. I find that the top level of Café De Paris is the best way to spend the night ~ it`s a bit like a chill out zone, enjoying the music in a more relaxing atmosphere. There are also drinking tables on the top level as well as comfortable & plush seating areas & underlit glass tables. You also have the option of getting your drinks served to you, as there are waitresses on both levels of the club.
Café De Paris has three bars all of which are stylish, decorative & modern looking, they are:
• ~ Red Bar • ~ Blue Bar • ~ Fantasy Bar ~ The Fantasy Bar is mainly the V.I.P area
You also have a classy restaurant on the premises but it only opens certain days ~ Its closed on a Wednesday.
What were my first impressions ?
They say first impressions count & I have to say Café De Paris surely made a big impression on me ~ My first visit to Café De Paris was grand & although I was taken by all the dazzling glamour, I was surprised to see how celebrities & the normal working class people like myself who just loves clubbing mingled together on the dance floor ~ there was no unfriendliness what so ever, instead it was a warm & loving atmosphere making you feel welcome. On my first visit I spent three hours on the top level of the Mezzanine area dancing to the music & looking at all the famous people. I have been a few times since then and you just get used to it. My friend normally reserves an upstairs table & about 1.30am we all go down to the main dance floor and mingle with the crowd
~ Lets party ~
What type of music do they play?
The clubs buzzing atmosphere along with sophisticated state-of-the-art sound, lighting system & the some of London`s best DJ`s give music that extra cutting edge ~ at Café De Paris a combination of music taste is offered in a given night, it varies from classic house, funk, disco house, hip-hop, great garage tunes & some commercial music. It even plays some salsa & Latino music but that is normally at the beginning, just to get the crowd going.
How much is it to get in ?
Admission fee is £15 on a Wednesday Night
Or
Free admission if you can get yourself on someone`s V.I.P guest list.

The bottom line is that if you want to experience a special night out in one of London`s exclusive nightspots & with all the classy trimmings of a club atmosphere then Café De Paris is the place to be. Great music, great crowd & more importantly a great raving AMBIANCE. To sum it up ~ a smashing night out.
