The "City-Of-Golden-Friendship" and it is. People were so polite and nice. I stayed in a few hotels while I was there.
First time was the LeMarr Inn. I would recommend it for one night, but that is all. It's decor is old and you have to climb a mountain staircase to get to the reception as it is housed on the second floor. I would however recommend the Willshire Inn, I stayed there for 3 weeks at a bargain rate of about $12/night.
Cagayan has a few nice modern malls, but in comparison the rich are getting richer shopping in these places while the poor are getting poorer.
Cagayan De Oro lacks tourist infrastructure, it isn't a tourist resort and as such anything of interest can be seen during a day trip. I strongly suggest visiting the nearby island of Camiguin. It isn't Borocay but it is nice and undeveloped with very little foreign tourism!
