FLAMINGO FLAMENCO I'm trying to see Cagliari (for you: Cá-lee-a-ree, stress on the first syllable), the capital of Sardinia, with the eyes of a tourist, not an easy task for me considering the fact that it has been the place where to visit in-laws for yonks. If you happen to be on the island in July or August, don't even think of visiting Cagliari unless the weather forecast promises a chilly spell (which is not very likely) or you're a mad dog or likewise Englishman. Cagliari is situated on the south coast of Sardinia, humidity is extreme, in summer it's higher than 90%, combined with a ... more

Hi all, first of all, forgive my mistakes but I am in italian girl and my Engish is not good ;) I would like to talk about Cagliari, the town where I live. This beach is called POETTO, but if u can move by car, u could should visit the several ... more

I simply love it. Well, maybe it is because I was born there, I breathed its air, I tanned and made friends there for many years. Sunshine assured at least 6 monthes a year. The summer starts early and finishes late, so you have many monthes to choose from. But, please, avoid August: it is the most expensive and less enjoyable of the monthes. It is Ferragosto time and everybody is away, so it is likely that you find many closed shops around. Sardinia is expensive. So it is not for the ones of you with a tight budget. It is for the better off. With the sun and sea and good Italian food. The ... more

Although tourists mainly arrive at Cagliari and then head for some resort on the coast, the city itself is probably worth a visit, if you have the time. The old city still retain some of its medieval past, and there are nice beaches in the town itself. Probably the best thing to do, is just to walk around the old part of the City. The Dome can be used as main reference and, again, its worth a visit. If you fancy the beach, Spiaggia di Poetto can be reached by bus, to the best of my knowledge, is never too crowded, there are plenty of nice bars behind it, and it is definitively sexier than ... more
