Great Wonders of the Ancient World
Review of Cairo Attractions: The Giza Pyramids by Haxrskilz

Advantages: Amazing tourist spot, very stunning.
Disadvantages: No toilets or other tourist facilities.

If you should ever take a trip to Egypt, a visit of the Giza Pyramids is an absolute must. Of course, before hand you will need to prepare yourself for a visit onto the edge of the desert, I can only suggest that exorbitant amounts of sun screen will suffice, along with all the usual summer kit (Sun glasses, sun hats, shorts and t-shirt). As there are limited facilities within a close range of the Pyramids - and by that, I mean non - be sure to buy ...
...forget to use the toilets you should find on your coach. The Egyptians also recognise this as a big tourist area, and are seen trying to sell camel rides to tourist, or other pieces of pointless junk that will break within five minutes. Ignore them, even if they pester you - if you give one anything, the rest will hound you, and make your trip no where near as fun. When at the Pyramids, be sure to take a visit inside one of them, that is, if you ... Read review

Splendour of Egypt 7-21/5/05 CAIRO
Review of Cairo, Egypt (CAI) by winimae

Advantages: See the wonders of the ancient world
Disadvantages: Cairo is a very busy and noisy city.

...guide throughout); 3 nights in Cairo, 1 night at Abu Simbel, 7 night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor, back to Aswan for 2 nights and then 1 night in Cairo before flying home. *This year the tour has changed, there are 4 nights in Cairo, 7 night Nile cruise, 2 nights at Aswan and 1 night in Cairo. You are now met at Cairo Airport by your tour manager/guide. CAIRO We arrived in Cairo after a five hour flight and while I was busy dying (I am a poor ...
...my worst nightmare drive in Cairo, the traffic chaos from taxi level (not bus level where there is a greater view of an accident waiting to happen) seems organised. The horns are used instead of indicators - which believe me are of no use (if they even work) as they drive so closely together. It is the attitude of the drivers which is a shock - they are so laid back! There are no heads hanging out of windows cursing at the driver who just has cut ... Read review

The Treasure of the Pharoahs
Review of Egyptian Museum, Cairo by netuser247

Advantages: The finest collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world
Disadvantages: Very busy - Not air conditioned - No Cameras

The Egyptian museum is without doubt a must see experience if you are visiting Cairo. The museum houses the finest collection of Egyptian antiquites in the world and is the permanent home to the Tutankhamun collection. The basic entry ticket (around £3) allows access to all areas of the museum except the royal mummies room, for which there is an additional fee. Contrary to what is written in most travel guide books NO cameras are permitted into ...
...(The llustrated guide to the Egyptian museum in Cairo is one of the best) and should plan on spending at least a full day here (two if you have the time). Dress light as it gets very hot inside and make use of the fact that your ticket is valid all day. The grounds are also very nice for sitting and cooling off and there is a cafeteria just to the right of the museum entrance. ... Read review

Cairo..this is one for the Girlies.
Review of Alabaster Mosque (Mohammad Ali Mosque), Cairo by Jaydeinlove

Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: Have to cover up in the smouldering heat!

When I was in Egypt I stayed in Sharm and went over to Cairo for the day. Plane journey was quick and very easy. We went on a busy tour through Cairo and one of the stops was the Albaster Mosque. The Albaster Mosque was beautiful on the inside but we had to cover all of our skin apart from on our faces. As the weather was very warm I did not want to wear a great amount of attire. And for this reason to enter the mosque I was covered in a sheet that ...
...were very hot and sweaty like me. This caused a lot of discomfort to me. Other people that went on the tour with me carried trousers around with them all day long. The toilets were dreadful, a whole in the ground and because there plumbing skills aren't great they have to through the tissue they have used in a toilet, on top of that having to carry a pair of trousers while attempting to squat over a whole in the ground. Let's just say, you could ... Read review

A Day Trip To Cairo By Air from Cyprus
Review of Cairo Attractions: The Giza Pyramids by dee2206

Advantages: See everything in one day.
Disadvantages: Do not go in August as the weather is too humid.

...by flying from Paphos to Cairo in August 2007. It took one hour to get there. I booked the trip with a travel agent in Paphos and it cost £200 cyprus per person travelling with Louis Travel. The air trip was a good flight and it included food (breakfast). The day was packed with lots of things to do. We arrived at Cairo and was quickly transported to a coach, which took us to our first destination - Citadel of Saladin. The coach drove through Heliopolis, ...
...I wanted to travel to Cairo at this time only because I had a friend visit me here in Cyprus and she wanted to go with me. After this we went to a five star hotel called the Meridan hotel where we sat and had a four course lunch. The food was excellent. Some excellent Egyptian spreads were laid out for us. Afterwards, we visited the Papyrus Institute and shopping at oriental bazaar, where I bought an Egyptian 18 carat gold chain and pendant with ... Read review
