Hotel so close to the pyramids!!
Review of Le Meridien Pyramids, Cairo by
jamesbt
Advantages: location location location
Disadvantages: further away from downtown
this hotel is probably the most unique hotel in the world as it is the one which you wake u and can actually see the great pyramids from, so close that you think you can reach out and touch them!! ok not that close but you know what i mean. we stayed here and it is literally awesome how close you are to the pyramids, waking up and seeiing them in their glory, was fantastic. so in this respect, it is a fantastic place to stay.
my advice would be ... ...couple or 3 days from your holiday base n egypt, then split cairo up into 2 parts. downtown where you are near the nile and the hubbub of the city. and Giza, where you see the pyramid, sphinx etc. at Giza, stay overnight in this hotel so you get the best location, at an affordable price. downsides are that when you book, be very specific about wanting a pyramid view room, as they may put you in a room overlooking the car park if your not specific. ...

12 Hours in Egypt
Review of Nile Hilton, Cairo by
Steven_Holroyd
Advantages: Close to the Egyptian Museum and other interesting places
Disadvantages: Compared to the other hotels it was on the expensive side - but well worth it
We stayed at the Nile Hilton in Cairo for just 12 hours on the way back from a diving trip in the Red Sea. Even though we were only there for a few hours I was really impressed with the efficient and friendly service of the staff. I didn't have to lift a finger. We even got to experience a traditional Egyptian wedding that took place while we were there. If you are on the hunt for postcards, perfume, papyrus and other authentic Egyptian souvenirs ... ...us on this trip that found this out the hard way.)
One last note, be very careful where you eat and what you drink, even in the hotels. Overall, being in Egypt and staying at the Nile Hilton was a great experience and I’ll do it again any day!!! ...

First Residence is First Class
Review of Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at the First Residence, Cairo by
sadoldbag
Advantages: Unbelievably great service, opulent , great restaurants and facilities
Disadvantages: none, except it is not free so you can't just live there
I stayed here for four nights on my honeymoon and it is absolutely the best hotel in Cairo in my opinion. Actually not just mine - travelling business class I was waiting in the check in line talking to someone who lived in Cairo checking in first class who asked me which hotel and immediately said - "oh, that's the one" when I told them this one.
There are two Four Seasons Hotels in Cairo - this is the newer of the two I think.
It wasn't cheap ... ...nothing I have ever experienced. Example: I was reading my book on a sun lounger by the pool - they have pool waiters for drinks, towel check people who give you a special sheet-type towel to go over your sun lounger with a pocket for the head cushion, and another towel to dry yourself with, they bring you sun cream if you ask etc etc. Then since when I sipped my drink I put my book down open and face down on the table beside me, someone brought ...

Fabulous
Review of Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino, Cairo by
MLN333
Advantages: Haven to relax after a day sightseeing
Disadvantages: Still some refurbishment going on in hotel
...the hustle and bustle of Cairo and it is really beautiful throughout. As we arrived very late one evening we had arranged for the hotel's meet and greet service which was excellent and made the experience less daunting. Having said that our experiences at Cairo airport have been better than at some uk airports! It was an excellent hotel and the staff were all very helpful. We ate at the Waves snack bar and Harry's Pub and the food was excellent at ... ...guide to show us around Cairo and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and him to really make your visit to Cairo special. Our tour guide was Rany Mostafa and I cannot praise him highly enough! He has a brilliant website called Tour Guide Egypt full of information that will help you make the most of your trip. Although the hotel can arrange for trips for you it really made a difference having someone so informative, enthusiastic and helpful to ...

Not a mirage, only the service disappeared
Review of JW Marriott Hotel Cairo, Cairo by
Vodkaboy
Advantages: Beautiful building and surroundings, great facilities
Disadvantages: Service was a mirage, outside the city
The JW Marriott, Mirage City, Cairo is something more than a mirage. As we approached, two giant sandstone pillars loom to one side, replicas of ancient Egyptian construction, and I thought, "this could either be very tacky or very impressive". Well, I was very impressed by the hotel, the facilities, the design, but unfortunately the overall experience was a bit disappointing. Atleast, it was when I stayed there late in 2003.
Sprawling around several ... ...first floor there is a JW Steakhouse which is very pleasantly atmospheric; the one time we ate there, however, it was disappointing as they didn't have any fillet steak (in a Steakhouse? Bah!) and would not allow any other steak to be used for the "Surf and Turf" that I wanted; the sirloin I had instead was about 30% fat and gristle. There is a Middle Eastern restaurant, Ahlein, on the first floor and a cigar & whiskey lounge. Off to one side, on ...
