Advantages: cheap booze, white sandy beeches, and great shops Disadvantages: you have to go home at the end of your holiday
Cala Do'r is split up into several bays from cala Serena to Cala D'or itself there all fantastic, With great sandy beeches, pubs, altough the main nightlife is in Cala D'or itself From sports bars like Linekars to traditional Irish Pubs and everything inbetween. It may not be as livly as Palma nova and Magaluf but what can you expect. The booze is quite cheap so you can drink to your haerts content. The streets are filled with people of all ages ... ...shops full of a wide selection of souveniers and gifts for the whole family. I highly recomend Cala D'or for family's as children are aloud in some of the quieter pubs. I also recomend Cala D'or for students and other young adults as it is plain and simply teen heaven! ...

...in a small rseort called Cala D'orada. Cala D'or itself is a very nice town, with some very good restaurants and a picturesque harbour, full of a fantastic array of yachts. The nightlife is also very good with very reasonable prices.
There is lots to amuse yourself once you are there. Cala D'or has some very good beaches and there is accomodation practically on the beach if thats what you enjoy doing on holiday. There is also things for the energetic ... ...the amount of coastline on Cala D'or. There is also lots to see, such as the fantastic Dragon Caves just a short drive away and the famous pirates show, which although is in Magalluf is quite easily accessible if you rent a car. I would recommend renting a car even just for a couple of days like we did when I went as it really adds to your Majorcan experience.
Also, because Mallorca is such a small island, you can quite easily travel to the other ...

The people in the hotel we friendly and polite and where there to help you whenever you needed it. The places we visited were wonderful we booked them via our hotel and there is a meeting point for each hotel to get the coach we went to Inca market the biggest market in Majorca and managed to get loads of bargains but you do need to be able to bartar. Advantages: Caters for all - couples, families & the seasoned traveller Disadvantages: Transfer Time from Palma airport
Cala D'Or is a relaxing and welcoming destination for families and couples alike. It is divided up by several coves, each with it's own character. The beaches are clean - and have tree-shaded areas, cafes and bars close by as well as a local fruit & coconut seller who visits each beach. For eating out - head for either the pedestrian area - choice of Spanish, Mallorcan, Italian, Mexican or go to the marina. Here there are restaurants & bars on both ... ...one-way streets around the pedestrian zone!
If you want to head out of town, there are plenty of coves and bays up and down the coast. Head for Porto Colomb for a real traditional Mallorcan lunch.
If you have not been to Mallorca before, Cala D'Or will not disappoint! ...

Advantages: All round fun Disadvantages: Going home!!!
...other side of the island. Cala D'or has several different beaches to it. I stayed in Cala egos one of many locations in Cala D'or. Cala D'or is definitely one of the best parts of the island. the reasons I loved it so much was because of the stylish shops, the trendy bars and restaurants, I thought the distance from the airport was enough as you could not hear any aeroplanes and also I felt that Cala D'or gave everyone an opportunity to indulge in ... ...visit the area. The beaches are small and secluded and the only downfall is that for the number of people visiting, the beaches are not big enough to hold that many. Even so, the beaches were gorgeous. Sitting on the beaches admiring the views made me feel so peaceful and at ease. And like I put in the disadvantages, the major problem with this holiday was going home at the end!! I will definitely go back because I love it!! ...

Advantages: Spacious room, Lovely pool setting, very clean. Disadvantages: Karaoke bar just across the road! Cleaning staff , bordered on rude.
I booked a VERY cheap family holiday for 9 days in October 2006 through FlyGlobeSpan, ex Glasgow. I was rather worried what I was going to, as the price was so good. However, I need not have worried. Even the flight out was better than expected.
We hired a car and after taking a few extra little tours (ie we got lost) we arrived in CalaD'Or. It was dark and eventhough I'd printed off instructions on how to find the Hotel, we went round and round in circles, as we couldn't see any road signs. I insisted hubby stop so we could ask directions, only to discover we were actually there. The receptionist was expecting us, and spoke to us by name. We were given our key, handed over out passports and directed up to the 2nd floor.
The electricity only works when the rear end of the key is slipped into a slot near the Apartment door ...
Advantages: good location, resonable facilities, adults only Disadvantages: paying for entry to tennis and garden area
you are led to dinner. The food is of a very good standard with plenty of choice, the rooms were of a good size with air conditioning and well kept. You can be as involved in the excursions as you like, or sit back and relax around the pool with a drink and a good book. The only negative point I could raise about the hotel is that the pool is quite small, and they make you pay to visit an area which is technically part of the complex! The hotel is geared towards the over 40's, but if you are in this bracket and want a great holiday, the Rocamarina is the place for you!

Majorca - Summer 2006
Calad'Or
Hotel - Barcelo Ponent Playa 3 * rating
We decided to go to Majorca, and have a family holiday. Then decided to go with another couple (my childs God Parents) as they were due to move to Canada in the October. We thought this would be nice to have a holiday together before they moved. We went along to our local First Choice Branch and asked for a hotel which would fulfill our demands;
*We wanted a hotel close to a beach,
*Walking distance to local town life for nice evening meals out
*Child friendly.
* Short flight time.
This was our first family holiday.
Barceló Ponent Playa is situated on Cala Ferrera beach, in the beautiful city of CalaD'Or in south-western Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands. We felt this hotel fulfilled what we wanted and thought we should book this ASAP, as we ...
