Advantages Advantages Peaceful, many people spoke English, wonderful views

Disadvantages Disadvantages 40 miles from Palma - difficult to get to if the buses aren't running

Cala D'or is a set of small sub-villages on the southern coast of Majorca (also known as Mallorca). We visited in April 2009 after booking a last minute deal. We booked through Thomas Cook and had 7 nights half board at the end of April for around £170 each (not including insurance). When we booked this holiday we really didn't know what to expect, simply because quite frankly we had no idea where Cala D'or was in relation to the rest of Majorca and primarilly its capital, Palma. Anyway, we soon learnt that Cala D'or is infact basically the other side of the island to Palma. It is about 40 ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lovely safe area

Disadvantages Disadvantages Distance from airports and the islands waterparks

I have grown up holidaying in Cala D'or. This whole resort is a beutiful area, with about 8 small cove beaches rather than long impersonal stretches that you get elsewhere on the island. The centre is entirely pedestrianised meaning the kids can play in safety. The centre is a mass of reseteraunts catering for all budgets and food tastes. I have never gotten tired of it and have found something for me as I have got older, enjoying the pubs and bars (although not many clubs) as much as I enjoyed the beaches and great pools when I was younger. The area is predominently English tourists as well ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap booze, white sandy beeches, and great shops

Disadvantages Disadvantages you have to go home at the end of your holiday

Cala Do'r is split up into several bays from cala Serena to Cala D'or itself there all fantastic, With great sandy beeches, pubs, altough the main nightlife is in Cala D'or itself From sports bars like Linekars to traditional Irish Pubs and everything inbetween. It may not be as livly as Palma nova and Magaluf but what can you expect. The booze is quite cheap so you can drink to your haerts content. The streets are filled with people of all ages so there is bount to be someone there that you will like. During the day ( if you are up) there are shops full of a wide selection of souveniers and ... more

I have been to Majorca twice now and have immensely enjoyed the experience. Both times I stayed in a small rseort called Cala D'orada. Cala D'or itself is a very nice town, with some very good restaurants and a picturesque harbour, full of a fantastic array of yachts. The nightlife is also very good with very reasonable prices. There is lots to amuse yourself once you are there. Cala D'or has some very good beaches and there is accomodation practically on the beach if thats what you enjoy doing on holiday. There is also things for the energetic holiday goer. I have for two years now enjoyed ... more

Advantages Advantages Lot's of places to visit

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes coach journeys are too long

We decided to go to majorca at the end of June this year as it was the type of holiday we needed somewhere where we could relax. We decided to do bed and breakfast at the Hotel cala Azul in Cala D'or, which is in the south a quite quiet place with lot's of small beaches. The people in the hotel we friendly and polite and where there to help you whenever you needed it. The hotel was lovely we were on the second floor which meant we had the view of the sea and the mountains and having a balcony meant we could eat outside at night. The hoteal facilties consited of a restaurant and bar, childrens ... more
