Cala Millor is a super resort for a rest on the beach. The sea has a gentle incline and apart from the palm leaf debris regularly washing in, is a great swim for all ages.
There is a super little sandwich bar right on the front near the police building on the beach who's home made rolls to order and take away local drinks, etc, make it well worth a visit.
There is plenty of flat promenade to walk, bicycle hire is easy. Cala Bona is at the north end of the beach and is worth an evening stroll.
The promenade offers a variety of eating oppotunities,it is not difficult to ascertain whom each facility caters for, which was a blessing. For the Brit, a visit to Stokers Bar, the leather shop and Gorans short order bar ( all next to each other at the begining of Cala Bona is well worth the short walk. Cas Torrandor resturant in Cala Millor was really good, serving unbelievable steaks, sold by the Kilo, and great wines, a real spanish treat.
Cala Millor makes a great base to visit all the resorts on this coast, car hire is best done from the airport. Esterallas gave me the best deal, I paid 170 euro's for the week, transfer by taxi from the airport to this resort would have cost me about 70 euro'seach way.
We arranged for an all inclusive week off the teletext, via a company allied to the co-op, flights and accomodation they booked seperately thus it was not as such a package. Booking via an ABTA company should have, in my opinion, offered some degree of compatability between the hotel and the British market, which,in my opinion, it did not. The Anba Romani appeared to be spanish run, with very little English either written or spoken. reception and bar Staff did their very best to accomodate us. The rooms were, frankly, dated. We had a small sea view room, single glazing in an old wooden frame with a single wood door lead onto a small balcony. Only twin beds with just enough storage for clothes. The maid service was excellent, and the hotel was very clean altough the uildings did smell of cigarette/ cigar smoke all the time.
Enterainment was interesting, diverse and in three languages so providing you are prepared to mix with the Spanish and the Germans you will have a good time, but do not expect to meet many Brits.
Unfortunatley this hotel struggled to cater for my very unfusy food tastes. The result was that 5 out of 7 breakfasts, dinners, all lunches were taken elsewhere.
You were allocated tables on arrivals without option, table sharing with others of your country was mandatory, all the signs were in German and some Spanish which made it frustrating.
I ask why we brits had to sit together and was told "the Germans do not like sitting with the British as they cannot speak to them".. I did not believe this however their policy on these arrangements was non negotiable!!
I have to say if we did not have enough money to self cater, we would have been really stuck.
All That said, the Anba Romani hotel is one of the only hotels with a sea view patio, with pool, although this is not huge, which offers a pleasant aspect of the beach.
We will not be returning to the Anba Romani until they stop serving burgers onions and chips for breakfast!
