Calais trip for nervous drivers
Advantages: Convenient location for both tunnel and shopping Disadvantages: lacking in wardrobe space
We went to Calais midweek by Eurotunnel. I have never driven abroad before so picked this hotel for its proximity to both the Eurotunnel and Cité Europe shopping centre.
Upon leaving the train I would estimate our journey time to the hotel was easily under five minutes. Parking spaces were plentiful in the free secure parking area at the rear of the hotel.
Reception staff were polite and the room was basic but adequate for a one night stay. There ... ...be less well suited. The bathroom was clean and the shower area was huge. We did fight over the one "extra" pillow but i am sure we could have requested another if we had been so inclined.
The location meant we could stroll across to the shopping centre where we planned our shopping strategy before choosing one of the many restaurants for dinner and a few drinks. We didn't eat here although next time would try the breakfast (not included) as the ...

Central and Simple
Advantages: Bang in the centre, reasonably priced, friendly staff Disadvantages: Not luxury accommidation (if you want that)
...be difficult to miss Hotel Belazur because of it's size, but in case you are now worried, it is on the corner of Rue de la Mer/Place d'Armes and is painted a pastel blue and white colour.
The Location is bang in the centre of town, by Rue Royale where all the main bars, cafes and shops are. There is also a supermarket a minute east from the Hotel, and of course several off-licenses and tabac's. This was ideal for me, and suited how I spent my time ... ...superfluous to my needs so Belazur it was!
FACILITIES
Hotel Belazur caters for Smoking and Non-Smoking guests, has facilities for the disabled, and also for pets. Each room has a separate bathroom, and television (with BBC1&2), and apparently there is internet access in the bar downstairs. Apart from using the bathroom and switching the tv on a couple of times, I didn't really use any of the facilities so cannot comment on them. I opted out from ...

Suitehotel Calais Coquelles
Advantages: Convenient location Disadvantages: No restaurant
Part of the Accor chain ( Formula 1,Ibis,Novotel and Mercure) so it is no surprise to find parts of the hotel a touch"mass-produced".
The location is ideal only 5 minutes from the docks and a 2 minute walk from Cite d'Europe and the Eurotunnel terminal. It is on the same site as the Etap 1* and Ibis 2* hotels. The reception is smart with a pleasant bar area. Staff were welcoming and efficient switching to English when they saw my reservation letter. ... ...divide into two so can be used by a family. There is no hotel restaurant but breakfast packs can be purchased or the Ibis has facilities. We chose the 100metre walk to the Cite D'Europe. There are tea /coffee making facilities in the room. All in all an excellent place for an overnight stay. ...

Georges V Hotel
Advantages: Disadvantages: NOISE
You want an opinion, heres one. This hotel sucks. We arrived after along drive and wanted to get some sleep. Hah. The hotel or one of its neighbours has a disco which pumps out thumping music until 4.00. Soundproofing ? I think we had speakers under the bed. A hotel is a place to sleep and this does not come into that category, no way, no how. There are plenty of other places to stay, so don't go here. Drive an hour down the road to Montreuil. Stay ...

Hotel close to Eurotunnel - Coquelles
Advantages: Close to the Tunnel Disadvantages: Only accessible by car
The Holiday Inn Coquelles is located about 2 minutes from the EuroTunnel terminal. Also situated near the Cite Europe Shopping Centre and ideally located for the motorways and cross channel portsand just 3 minutes from the White Cliffs of Cap Blanc Nez and the sandy beaches of the Opale Coast.. It is a good based for touring the 1st and 2nd World War sites but is equally suited to a good start or end to your holiday.
The hotel is set in a peaceful ... ...you would expect for a holiday inn hotel. They did have a happy hour at tea time. The restaurant food was fantastic, and relatively cheap. A three course meal was about £19:00 but one bottle of house wine was £17:00 and a round of four beers was £12:00.
I managed to spend over £100 in extras whilst staying there for just one night. Yes I did have a good hangover!
Holiday Inn does supply customers with what they want at a price that can be termed ...
