I stayed at Caleta Garden in the summer of 2004 with my father when I was 16. We arrived in the middle of the night, so had to wait until the morning to get a good feel of the hotel. The transfer was very short, so we were close to the airport which is always good, hot coaches are terrible!
We were situated on the second floor of the hotel above the games room, overlooking the pool in the middle of the hotel (it was like apartments around the pool in the middle). It wasn't an amazingly beautiful view, but made getting to the pool in the morning nice and simple!
When we entered the room we discovered a cockroach immediately, but aside from that, the room was perfectly clean and had sufficient amenties. It was an apartment, not simply a studio and the only thing missing was air conditioning.
The next day before we went to explore, we met some of the other guests around the pool and discovered how much of a family hotel Caleta Garden is. It's actually a Thomson SuperFamily hotel which we didn't realise, but this was great as there were kids and teenagers of all ages to socialise with. Definitely a hotel for families, not young and lively or couples looking for peace and quiet!
Upon exploring the area, we discovered we were abit of a walk away from the beach and port at Caleta de Fueste, but it was a pleasant walk still - lots of shops, restaurants and bars. The area was very relaxed and it was genuinely a nice resort to stay in; the beach even had its own chipmunks!
Inside the hotel was a wide variety of entertainment on a night, always catering for the children until the late hours from during the daytime at the pool, to adult entertainment events at later hours which the teenagers could participate in.
The reception, bar, hotel and restaurant staff were all amazingly friendly, and they embraced the playful atmosphere of the hotel - it was the perfect way for me to spend my last high school summer holiday.
The food in the restaurant was sufficient, nothing mentionable - but they had their fair share of poolside snacks and they were nice, but nothing really out of the ordinary. The nearest supermarket was about 10 minutes into the resort, abit annoying as it seemed to be blended in with all the restaurants.
Overall though, the hotel was more than I expected, there were other amenities such as a jacuzzi on the roof giving you an amazing view of Fuerteventura, a gym, a sauna, the games room, the restaurant, bar and the entertainment. Perfect for hotel for families, perfect resort for families and couples alike.
This holiday cost us £420 through Thomson for a fortnight and included in flight meals, transfers and insurance. Definitely good value for money, money well spent!
