* CANADA - Part 2: Calgary Int. Airport *
Review of Calgary, Canada (YYC) by Rini

Advantages: ----
Disadvantages: So much!!

...are going to stay in Calgary, what we want to do in Canada and as we told him that we are also going to visit Vancouver, he said: “Oh, Vancouver is not very nice. It is not beautiful. Calgary is so beautiful! It is great! But Vancouver…” *g* At the baggage reclaim you could get one of several trolleys for free. It seemed as if only our machine had arrived, so that it was empty and I enjoyed that because there was no crush. We got out luggage quite ...
...also see the skyline of Calgary, as well as the Rocky Mountains which is really beautiful! There is also Starbucks, a shop for glasses and jewellery, many screens with departure times… Upstairs one can buy something to eat but there is no restaurant, there are several Shops, where one can buy something. From here one has also a good view on the apron. Besides there is a souvenir shop, an exchange bank, several cafés and restaurants, many telephones ... Read review

Is it 2005 or 1805?
Review of Fort Calgary, Calgary by lisamarie1985

Advantages: Fun, interesting, educational
Disadvantages: Just a bit tiring, but its to be expected for a day out and transport, a car I feel is a neccesity!!

...a little interesting history about Fort Calgary - Fort Calgary tells the story of the founding and growth of Calgary. The site was first developed in 1875 by the North West Mounted Police, who arrived at the junction of the Bow and Elbow Rivers to establish a fort. They came to stop the whiskey trade and secure law and order in the West. Well, where to start?! There are so many aspects of Fort Calgary I want to talk about I don't quite know which ...
...in 1930!! Fort Calgary is a brilliant and fun way to learn about history and life in the 18/1900s. I was not looking forward to this day trip in the slightest; I thought it was going to be sooooo boring! How wrong can one person be?! The first thing I did was discover what the 'F' troop men experienced and their duties at Fort Calgary. This was so interesting and there was an actual set up of how these men had to live, you have to see it to believe ... Read review

Glenbow museum
Review of Glenbow Museum, Calgary by kent-ledger28

Advantages: history of calgary settlers -indians-cowbys and scandels
Disadvantages: hard to find without a map

I am lucky that I have family in Calgary and have visited this wonderful city and region many times. Each visit is not complete without a trip to the Glen bow museum, which is situated downtown. You would think that I would have had enough but there never is enough. The curators of this store of knowledge are constantly changing and introducing new and informative exhibits, that, show you all there is to know about the history of this region. From ...
...alien and inhospitable region, to, sympathetic and well researched insights into the indigenous people who were there before the settlers ever came. The museum hits an even balance never seeming to take sides in this story of history. It provides the visitor with a mass of information in a fun and well thought out manner- each display leads you to the next with well laid out "back track routes" that mean you can nip back to your favourite displays, ... What a welcome into Calgary!
Review of Calgary, Canada (YYC) by charlieb

Advantages: Helpers & greeters everywhere!
Disadvantages: Long way to walk off the plane into arrivals

As soon as you step into the airport, you are greeted by 'helpers' dressed in cowboy clothes! I have been to Calgary 5 times and this still puts a smile on my face after a long flight. The 'helpers' are there to guide you into the arrivals hall, as the walk in quite a long one and you feel you might take a wrong turn!As you walk along the corridor there are pictures of the Canadian scenery which creates excitement. The airport itself seems dull ... Read review

Calgary International Airport
Review of Calgary, Canada (YYC) by johnnycanuck

Advantages: Easy to navigate, Spacious, Scenic views
Disadvantages: Could use more retail, No rapid transit link

Calgary's airport (YYC) is an attractive, well-designed facility with convenient access to the city and some impressive mountain views. The fourth busiest air terminal in Canada (after Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal), YYC was renovated and expanded in 2003. It now consists of four concourses linked to a single, unified depatures and arrival terminal. There is also an upscale but reasonably priced business hotel (the Delta Calgary Airport) right ...
...above-average, recent renovations have led to a much improved feeling of spaciousness. Navigation around the facility is also easier, since signage and flight information have both been greatly improved and the former North terminal is now fully integrated into the main building. A stunning visual feature of this airport is its view of downtown Calgary and the Rocky Mountains from the main hall. If you are passing through, be sure to stop for a ... Read review
