Calgary Hotels

Advantages: Grand comfort, good location, great price.
Disadvantages: No airport shuttle bus.

We stayed in the Fairmont Palliser, Calgary last weekend after a week long Ski holiday to the Rocky, Purcell and Kootenay mountains. (6 mountains in 8 days - just to make any skiers reading jealous!!) It was a great place for some luxury after skiing all week! We didn't really use too many of the facilities as we only stayed one night but the public areas of the hotel are exceptionally grand but not at all stuffy. This is Calgary, after all! One ...
...for us and our gear. The bathroom was a little past its prime, with paint peeling a little from the ceiling but the towels were very clean and the provided toiletries top notch! It was also exceptionally quiet and we were only on the 4th floor, so expected some traffic noise but heard none. The advertised prices for meals etc are rather expensive for Canada. A standard North American style hotel, we stayed here for one night in September 2008 on a bed and breakfast basis before we picked up an RV for cruising around Canada. Smoking and non smoking rooms available Spacious comfortable rooms, en suite cable TV, kettle and Safe. In the morning we even decided to leave without showering because the bathroom looked so nasty. (In the end, I don't think we caught anything.....) We unfortunately had a mixed stay at this hotel in September 06. Arrival: The shuttle service is easy to use. Use one of the many interactive free telephones in Calgary airport to contact the hotel and they will send a driver and minivan to collect you. This arrived within 15 minutes and is about a 15 minute drive from the airport. We used the shuttle service to return to the airport the next day which we found to be reliable and efficient - you ...
...at reception. Check in was quick and easy and we were offered a late check out at no extra cost (to 1pm) at no extra cost which I was pleased with. However there was no assistance offered with baggage we were given a ground floor room at the end of a long corridor. The Ramada Hotel in Calgary (Canada) is a personal favorite, and when in Calgary, I wont stay anywhere else, indeed, I am willing to travel an hour or so just to stay there! My son loved it too (But not as much as the theme hotel in Edmonton (Different room every night!)
